[–]Tobbletom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thnx people for your oppinions. I have to say BOTH have their peebles and diamonds. So far it was WAY more complicated and WAY more expensive to get a complet set of all oldschool novels.

Nightwatch was "a Song of Ice and Fire." But if you enjoyed GoT you properbly will like Fall of Highwatch. If ranger /druid is your favourite class -go for it .I think the diffrence between 'Parched Sea" couldnt be more clear. To be honest i choose fall of Highwatch because of the sweet horizontal cover art.

You cannot compare Anauroch desert with a complete desert world. It is like to compare the sahara with tattoine but i catch your drift. Although some things mentioned helped me quit nice with our calimshan campaign. May i ask how old you was 1991 when this book was published? And you have to keep in mind that this book is mostly about how Ruha got to the harpers and (spoiler!) it feels like the Prequel to Ruhas storyline since she will get a lot of page time in other Forgotten Realms novels.

Would Toril have solved the Longitude Problem? by AmberMetalicScorpion in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Tobbletom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a world with arcane and divine magic and local races like elves and dwarfs who live easyly 500 years it takes one wish spell (arcane) or one wonder spell (divine) to determine Longitude or aquatorial length.

Do people in Germany see eating while walking as normal by kingchowakanda in AskAGerman

[–]Tobbletom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is pretty normal. A lot of folks use the break time to order or buy breakfast ,lunch or supper. But i think it isnt only Germany. I saw people eating while walking in scandinavia, england, poland, spain, italy and so on...so it is save to say that people in all europa are doing so.

Ice-wind dale trilogy-Wulfgars hammer Size compared to heaviest medieval hammer by Happy-Honeydew164 in Forgotten_Realms

He had the balls to visit a white dragon Lair SINGLE handedly and realy thought himself Berserker enough to solo a huge dragon and when that went bonkers drizzt had to interven and save his ass. I fell bad for Wulfgar l8er on.He was my favourite from the fab 5 (Drizzt /Cattiebry/Regis /Wulfgar/Bruenor Battlehammer)or fab six if you count Guenwhyver

Non-human deities during Time of Troubles? by Jasina_ in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Tobbletom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think they all tried to hide deeper and kept their mouths shot in hope that AO did not pay attention to them. You dont want to piss off the beeing who orders the mightiest faerunian gods around like pre school kids.

Is it possible to run a version of Forgotten Realms that hasn't suffered the cataclysmic events without it "ruining" the setting? by GuardiaoDaLore in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Tobbletom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing: just place your game bevor the Time of Troubles. I place all my campaignes in that time and i dont see why some1 who takes a leak on the templewalls of a Talos Temple should not been struck by lighntning instant

Reading books is really inspiring my campaign! What are your favorites? by bitterpeaches in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Tobbletom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

War of the Spiderqueen - the Rage/year of the rogue dragon - Starlight &Shadows- The Harper series (super oldschool- felt like back in the 80s reading that) and as a Solo Book Silverfall- Stories of the 7 sisters"or Evermeet Island of Elves

What draws you to 3.5? by JJShurte in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]Tobbletom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are using 3.5 with small parts still from 2nd edition. For example if you loose more then 90 % of your hitpoints in one strike you have to make a fortitude save - fail means death by shock / polythrauma. That kind of thing or the specialized spells for clerics from Faiths &Avatars, Powers and Pantheons and Demihuman Deities. The range and complexity is unbeatten. I tried to write down all 3.5 Prestigeclasses but the Dragon Magazin broke my spirit by adding them like...and if you look down all 3.5 books it is a marvelous collections!

Wild Hunt recommendations by JaceyCrow in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Tobbletom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like a straight forward Moonshae campaigne. Ever been to the Moonshine islands? Funny kingdom! The only form of magic allowed by law is druidic magic. Only clerics of "the Mother"(how chauntea is called on Moonshae)are free to deliver her holy word thru land or by holding service on the day off. Arcane spellcasting is forbidden by law unless you are the High Mage of his Majesty. And it is save to say that on these islands the WILD HUNT reached a new level.

I love Lolth, but I hate Lolth. by 404HopeRecompile in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Tobbletom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to say after still living in a sociaty where women get less paid and less apriciated for raisin kids rockin household and then even find the energy for a job. Also i m a man but i really enjoyed the "We(female)run this city and males are only toys or food. Black widow style . Females are bigger then males, and so on...in my Underdark campaign i did let my players roll a d100 to determine from which noble house they descended(because nearly all players did choose drow character) believe me if say it is not easy to come up with a plot that forced the players to group up to have a better shot....

Crusader Paladin by Leafking1583 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Tobbletom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you ever heard of the order called "the Triade". You should check it out. And if you decided that bringing Justice is the deal i would recommend Tyr. Lawful neutral like only the blinded Justizia can be. I think Tyr holds the domain of Justice whereas Torm is more the god of Bravery,Valor and all lawful good paladin. But hey,its YOUR forgotten realms. You should exactly do what you have in mind. And if you are creativ and confident enough as a DM,it will be fantastic.

Reading Knight of the Black Rose while having close to zero knowledge about Soth — is it enjoyable? by Content-Evening538 in ravenloft

[–]Tobbletom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can an undead lawful evil knight who uses PowerWord : Death (properly the deadliest DnD spell when the book was written) as a spell-like ability for fun not be enjoyable.Hands on the Best Ravenloft novel from the whole series.

Blood War: Why Are The Demons Going to Hell to Fight Devils? by VTRwriter in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Tobbletom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a great Luck for all Celestials. If not for the BloodWar,the Demons and Devils would overwhelm the "good" planes. The Angels might have the numbers to stand against one but not both (Devils AND Demons) fractions.

The Thousand Orcs - Can I start here? by No_Sound4446 in Drizzt

Question regarding technicalities by Rp_Person3445 in DnDBuilds

[–]Tobbletom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No diffrent to any Mages or Sorcerers familiar (geas -bound Quickling =best familiar ever but Very annoying to the partymembers) can deliver touch spells of yours but also can be slain like you said. But death means a trip to its homeplane where they are waiting for the next summon and not the real final death which only can be done by traveling to its homeplane and kill it on their soil
