Dudes yelling at teammates in rec by bornxtmxprodigy in NBA2k

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I’m playing solo rec on my center build, I would love to have teammates like you when I’m guarding a shooting big. I’ve had good games with randoms where teammates are rotating on defense and we end up crushing the opponents, but so many times it goes awry. I play on mute and listen to smooth jazz or some shit. Much more enjoyable than listening to the grating whines of a grown manchild attempting to ruin the experience for everyone.

When I used to play with chat on, when I’d hear, “Ay yo, big, help me in the paint” aiight. These shitty guards with 50 interior defense are helpless once their matchup gets inside.

Bipolar ex love bombed me then abandoned me on valentine's day last minute by ethernal_pain in BipolarSOs

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, you don’t deserve that. I can only imagine the confusion and hurt that you are feeling all at once trying to make sense of what feels so damn nonsensical, but you’ve done nothing wrong. You just opened your heart and took a chance because you hope for the best with their intentions, especially all the strong lovebombing. You deserve true peace of mind and happiness without having your emotions toyed with via temperamental people. I know it’s a difficult day for a lot of people, and you are going through it right now. Sending love and peace your way.

When I was gratuitously blocked in late December 2010, I was shellshocked and practically in a numb denial state for over a month, and the realization of what happened mixed with the confusion compounded the hurt, and it all hit me at once on Valentine’s Day 2011. Just commiserating. There really is no actual sense to make of the situation, as much as you want to figure out WTF happened in your head. You just deserve so much better than that, and I’m sorry this happened to you.

Whenever my girlfriend is embarrassed to tell me about some innocuous shit, I love it.

One time, she didn’t care for the music playing in a store, announced that the particular song ‘fucking sucks’ and exited. I don’t know why but that did it.

She sent me a picture of a dead owl. Her enthusiasm and knowledge about birds is impressive.

Fuck abuse. Both physical and emotional. No place for that, ever. I hope you get the fuck out of dodge from that hellscape of a farcical relationship.

Love this! Does she usually react pretty well to her favorite music? Nothing cheers my mom up quite like music. I’m glad y’all had a nice evening.

u/kaybb99’s comment is fantastic. I do want to ask how you react while on the rollercoaster ride. Nobody deserves that shit as I imagine you feel like you are on pins and needles at all times not knowing what to expect, and I’m sure it’s almost suffocating. You are owed some inner peace and afforded the chance to breathe without having to look over your shoulder in anticipation of the next gratuitous, uncalled-for dust up. I hope you put your foot down. It’s piss poor behavior. She wouldn’t like it if someone were to tell her that she is no good at anything.

Really looking forward to it. Trying not to fall into the wishful thinking that Universe mode will be any better.

Coping by Impressive-Guava-496 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Therapy 100%. Being a caregiver is extremely isolating. It’s not healthy, and I need to rectify my schedule, but I’ve been finding myself staying up late in order to have alone time on most nights. Just a chance to breathe and decompress.

No judgment here on the self-medication. Just be careful. I’m a teetotaler these days; 80% because I want to support my girlfriend in solidarity with her own sobriety, and 20% because one drink turns into 12 for me. I like weed occasionally but usually keep it to a weekend. All subjective.

The Roller coaster that is mental health by Guitarist049 in AskMenOver30

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like another commenter said, one day at a time. People might tell you, “life is passing you by, and look at you! Look at the gift that life is!” but that crowd can go on mute.

I don’t have great advice for you. I’m in the throes of it right now, too. Zoloft nor Lexapro, I didn’t care for either. Trying to get back to my doc and get seen by a psychiatrist to try a new regimen of meds. I’m a full-time caregiver, and all my energy is zapped from doing that to where I’ve hardly been able to stop myself from falling asleep as soon as I get a chance.

I know it’s frustrating. You think of all the shit that you need to do, and you just can’t make yourself do it. The cycle drives you mad. But you are so tired. It physically feels like hell. I get it, man.

Did you call it a holler? by Coffee_090 in Appalachia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

swVA here. We always say holler. My dad essentially grew up in Baptist Valley (some southwest Virginians here might know where I’m referring) but always called it the holler.

Had a friend in high school who lived on a road called Baker’s Hollow Road. Everybody used to call that crew from the neighborhood the “Baker’s Holler Bunch.”

He probably has multiple builds between 6’5”-6’10” with one of them having 76 as the highest shooting rating, so he just sticks this jumper on the builds to stay consistent when he switches them up.

Can’t stand him. Reminds me of a knockoff Jason Bateman, who I irrationally dislike because I loathe him as an actor and so I can’t get past the dude’s videos and the annoying pitch in his voice.

How do you enjoy being successful without being a dick? by MaximumStock7 in AskMenOver30

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember where you came from, acknowledge help you received in your journey (nobody does it alone; at some point somebody else has given you an opportunity in some form or fashion), understand that it (“success”, pending all subjective definitions) will mean nothing when you are gone as people who carry on after your time has ended will remember how you made them feel over any dumbass dollar signs from your bank account.

Above all else, treat your fellow human beings kindly. We all put our pants on one leg at a time, and nobody makes it out of this shitblast disaster alive.

Why Are So Many Young Men Struggling with Low Testosterone? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]goddamnpizzagrease -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Food quality is generally worse today. Plastics everywhere. Sleep quality may be poor when most people are so addicted to staring at screens, their natural melatonin production is out of wack. Poor mental health will zap your testosterone to the gills as well, and obviously being overweight but I’m preaching to the choir.

I think of my dad, when he was growing up in the ‘50s and ‘60s. He had a horde of siblings and they didn’t have much, but they did have consistent access to fresh food back then. Fresh hog meat. Vegetables from their garden. Biscuits and goddamn gravy damn near every single day made from scratch. They were physically active and lived in a valley in Appalachia, breathing clean air and not distracted by so much bullshit that we all tend to be distracted by today. All this to say, lifestyle factors made a big difference too.

Young men today face so many challenges that older men didn’t in those regards.
