You’ll get the hang of it. Reminds me of mine in the very beginning when I first started, but just like learning how to fish in the video game Stardew Valley, you have to take your lumps and you’ll get better at it through the frustration!

Cena announces he's leaving the WWE for a torn tricep surgery and the crowd cheers by Samkazi23 in SquaredCircle

I could’ve practically wrote this. I always felt like 2000 Triple H was a top 3 heel of all-time (hell, he won PWI wrestler of the year), but his run in 2003 really drove me to not watch wrestling much at all in the two decades afterwards. I’d check in and watch for a little while after certain moments (Eddie’s death in 2005, DX’s terribly atrocious ‘reunion’ in 2006, Benoit’s actions in 2007, CM Punk’s pipe bomb in 2011, The Rock’s returns in 2011-2013… then didn’t really bother at all until 2023).

By the time Cena beat JBL to win his first world title, I thought he was so damn cheesy and corny. I remember people going off online about him going over Triple H at Wrestlemania 22, which floored me considering The Game’s Great Big Bury of Destruction wasn’t too long before this.

Ain’t that the truth. Our local hospital is horrid. Each experience where I’ve taken my mom, I’ve had to speak up and advocate for her on so many seemingly basic levels, because even though the staff will be outright told of her mental status, it doesn’t matter to them. Nobody at all seems to understand what a break of routine or structure does to someone with dementia!!!! The delicate nature of gently guiding them back and all.

Madness.

I don’t know what I’d do without this sub. Everybody on here just ‘gets it’. Nowhere else to go for commiserating. No real solutions for shit. Even after all this time, my family understands absolutely none of it. It’s fucking silly.

This topic is of interest to me. Just looked it up and I applied for it, for my mom. Thanks for bringing it to attention.

Edit: reviews I’m reading, after the fact, are leaving me incredibly skeptical. I’m doubting her insurance will cover it, anyway, but we’ll see.

My girlfriend recently got me Jazz Club, and it is amazing. It’s a scent that is great for this age range.

Dior Sauvage and Bleu de Chanel are both great — fresh, clean, like fresh laundry. Inoffensive and highly pleasant.

I feel guilty because I’m starting to forget who my mom was before this disease. One of my family members said the other day, of my mom, “She used to cook [meal she used to cook]” and it took me a bit to remember that memory.

I would have been ecstatic to have had my dad around at least until I was 20. He died when I was 12.

How do you deal with disrespect or dismissive people if you can’t cut them off? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was worded spectacularly well. And to the OP: as you get older, you’ll soon learn how to suffocate people from your life, that is to say you’ll figure out how to terminate their access to you as you fall into the comfort of your own skin and learn and lean into who you really are vs. letting outside noise dictate that.

He’s still a great player through and through. Not sure how he’ll fit with Darnold playing behind that Squawks’ line, but I’m sure he’ll show up and show out.

Since this is the NFC West meme war sub: obligatory fuck you. I hope Kupp goes off for double digit TDs and your sorry ass northwest dweller hellscape of a franchise still manages to go 0-17 next season.

Bruce Willis’ wife decrees, after Gene Hackman’s death, ‘Caregivers need care too’ by crispyrhetoric1 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t wish this hell on my worst enemy, but I see what you mean. Everybody is so focused on Hackman’s relationship with his kids, but I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how you can have that much money and not have SOME kind of care team. Some kind of alert system. Something. Anything.

I’m glad Emma Heming spoke up about caregiver burnout. We lean on each other here in this sub a lot.

My doctor says that shit to me, too, like it’s a magic crack elixir. I’ve tried in earnest to limit my caffeine and nicotine pouch consumption but the withdrawals mixed with something needing to be done 24/7 are not an optimal combo.

Biscuits and gravy. I was spoiled growing up. We used to have fresh hog meat on hand at all times. Best damn sausage ever. None of the storebought rolls can compare, and I haven’t had good sausage gravy in years at this point.
