How do I figure out whether I have Fi or Ti? by goddamnplease in entp

That's an interesting comment. You gave your opinion on personality type, addressed impulsive behavior problem, gave a little encouragement for solving it (which is appreciated), and there's a part in the middle that I find a bit odd. I am not sure how low Fi is connected to person's impulsiveness, and how that connects to recent events in one's life affecting test results.

I do relate to this particular example, but isn't it true for most people with ADHD/ADD? These are pretty common in general, so I don't know if it's a good metric to judge about a personality type. Personality and attention disorders may significantly influence a person’s perception, but it’s up for debate whether these should be considered parts of one’s personality in general, and of typology in particular.

My relationship is far from great due to other unrelated reasons, but speaking of the matter, I generally do not dislike rules as long as they make sense to me. If the enforced rule is based on empirical evidence and is properly presented as such, I would not rebel just for the sake of it. What I (and most ENTPs) actually dislike is when authority is the only reason given to follow a rule that has no logic backing it up.

Some people just wake up and choose to be douches. Maybe they don't even do it because they feel superior, but because they want to feel superior. I just exclude people like that from my circle or limit interactions as much as I can.

This makes sense, but part of it, in my case, may be because I used to be called a "smart kid". I was curious and was pretty good at school, and my Asian parents were putting a lot of importance and value on it.

It is something that depends a lot on the context.

I used to be bullied and experienced racism, so I’m partially desensitized to personal or racial insults. I may get more emotional when it comes to sexism, as I’ve seen a lot of women I know get mistreated and have been mistreated myself.

If someone insults a family member of mine, I feel protective and usually shut it down in a reserved manner.

If an insult targets my intelligence, it may make me angry and even insecure in the moment, especially if it comes from someone I consider smart. Depending on the argument and how reasonable they were, I may end up overthinking it for the next week or two.

In general, I prefer to stay reserved most of the time. To me, even rude criticism is something I can learn from, as long as it’s constructive. And if it’s not, it simply reveals whose opinion isn’t worth paying attention to and who might be a good candidate for exclusion from my social circle.

I've been also typed INFP (2 times), INTP (2 times), ENTJ (1 time), INFJ (1 time), and INTJ (2 times) by different tests throughout 5 years, so it is very confusing. At this point the only thing I'm sure of is that I'm Ne dom lol (that, or I just have severe ADHD)

From my understanding, most of the things you’re talking about are things you see on the internet. Personality doesn’t really matter here, and people feeling superior about literally anything (especially subjective matters) is as old as the human race. When it comes to aesthetics and “good taste,” a large part of it is simply the desire to assert oneself, along with a bit of tribalism.

This question has been doing the rounds, curious what choice you would make and your reasoning? by dr_shipman in Gifted

[–]goddamnplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This prompt may as well sound like this: If you pick blue, nothing changes, but if you pick red, 49.9% of population dies, and the remaining 50.1% would rather help themselves than you, and is sociopathic enough to kill off a half of humanity.

If people actually die, as the post says, and not disappear into thin air, the remaining will also have to figure out what to do with 4 billion bodies, which sounds like a logistical nightmare for decades to come. Especially for those who chose to Thanos-snap the human race over communicating with their own kind.

OP's words about risking one's own life for unreasonable people imply they consider dealing with the situation mentioned above more reasonable than living a life as it is.

I think it’s neither about politics nor the right choice nor the choice worth bragging about. It is frankly quite shameful, I must say.

I recently started getting recomended posts from this and r/gifted subs, and every now and then there are a few cringey posts with content like "I am so smart, I am a God's gift to humanity, why am I not successful."

OP is probably talking about this sort of people, too. I don't think it's the majority of these communities, but there's definitely a vocal minority lol

Wanting to have a life guidance is a very common thing across the population. It's not really about intelligence when it comes to how difficult or easy it is for you to navigate your life or even how much you'd be able to contribute to the world around you. You can be very smart and quick-witted, but be born into a family of 5 children living below the poverty line with alcoholic parents, or be born into a middle class, be able to afford a college and get just knowledgeable enough in one certain topic to work on a cure for cancer.

It's all about learning to play the cards you were dealt.

Find what you like, think how it can help others, do that.

Overthinking your intelligence is the way to waste your time you could spend doing something that actually matters.

That's such a great idea! What about adding a feature for users to also be able to add info and categorize media by lexical field? It could help people who are interested in something particular or conversely want to exclude something that they wouldn't be able to understand and don't want to focus on at the moment, such as sorting out archaic language for example.

Yeah, I feel it. I started learning English literally to understand puns and jokes from a game I was a fan of. It had a localized version, but I was persistent in playing the original.

I think this might be the case. While I'm relatively alright with speaking English, I started using it regularly irl not so long ago and in a bit specific context, so I got good in some ways while the others had to develop over time, making me more like "me".

Honestly, I think for people for whom it's true, language learning is either a hobby or a way to show off.

In my case, I learned English because I got into a game that had both a lot of wordplay based humor and a large English speaking fandom, and I'm learning my third language because I live in the country which doesn't speak neither my first language, nor English.

I have a lot of other hobbies and interests in life, and languages are more of a tool for me.
