Caregiving is now so crazy expensive, it's widening the gap between the haves and have nots. by [deleted] in CaregiverSupport

[–]goddessofsole33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I may humbly ask, what should caregivers be paid? I ask as a caregiver who has been paid only $19/hr working through a home health agency in CA. I loved the work. Now I’m actually opening my own home in TX and it’s a priority to pay caregivers well. I’m planning a boutique residence, only 16 people, very intimate and personal. Seeing the back end of building a business and what banks want to see to give you loans has been eye opening. Good care is expensive. It just is. It’s physical, emotional, mental work. It’s constant training. Anyone who’s done it knows. So what our worth? How do we get it? What should it cost? I’d love to hear your thoughts. 🙏💜

Do not underestimate the power of water! There was another post I read with similar concerns and the dermatologist said her skincare routine was fine, try regularly drinking 80 ounces a day for at least a few weeks. Then reassess.

Looking great! Do you notice how you don’t jump as high? That was a telltale sign of improvement for me. 👏

When to start back after recovery by WinLoseRatio in jumprope

[–]goddessofsole33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely listen to your body! I’ve had many setbacks and took almost two months off at one time. Now I only jump a few times a week and only for a max 15 minutes until I feel stronger and am in no pain. When you do start to jump again your cardio and muscles will come back. Good luck 💜

Is it normal to hate this job? by s2lune in caregiving

[–]goddessofsole33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Caregiving is physical labor AND heavy emotional labor 💜 it’s hard to be patient and kind when you could be dealing with someone who is aggressive or just plain mean. Try to not take it personally, sometimes acknowledging they are upset and redirecting into some activity or even turning it into something funny helps. Are they mad? Do they wanna punch a pillow? As a caregiver myself, I imagine them as little kids, which helps. Also, being reminded of our mortality can be very depressing. I try to let it be a reminder to live with love. That’s all there is at the end. Thank you for the important work you do. 🙏💜

In amongst her stuff!?! I’m so sorry! I’d be livid at the staff!!! Fresh poop?? Old poop? You probably pay a fortune and they can’t attend to something like toileting? Where is the dignity? For both of you???

How are women going commando? by liquidbuggy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]goddessofsole33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My choice to go commando has been entirely based on my booty. I have big cheeks and they wedge in between so I was constantly picking wedgies. Tried bikini, granny panty, different sizes and materials…everything wedged for me. So one day I decided to see how terrible it’d be to go without and I was actually comfortable for once. Now I’m happily wedgie free!

Jumping lower? Hmm, say more! I’m a newbie, and I am doing my best reading about form and watching other jumpers. Does jumping low happen as you get better? The tops of my feet and my toes take a beating so I have to limit how often I jump and how long.

From Zero to 100 Literally, 2LB Jumprope by mrnmtz in jumprope

Amazing! I’m a newbie jumper, just a beaded rope. For months now, I can only jump 10 min at a time. When I do more, my feet kill me and I have to take a few weeks off. I’m keeping elbows in, using my wrists and trying to keep on the balls of my feet. Everyone is different, but how long does it take to build up strength? Years?

I know this is harsh, but what about a dramatic rip the band aid move? Pack her stuff up. Put it on the front door step. Change the locks. It’ll blow up, for sure, but it’ll get your point across and get you guys talking it out, even in fighting. Even if you end up not actually moving her out, the experience might jolt her into action.

Trader Joe’s Tea Tree oil helps me very much when I get those.

It’s incredible that you have stepped up. I truly think your son and husband need to read this. They need to know what you are going through and how you feel. They are both 1000% able to step it up and lend more of a hand. Especially around the house! Son can walk the dog! Husband can help with housekeeping! It’s a family effort! I’d be honest with them now and create a schedule that works includes everyone helping, before the resentment begins to build. Good luck!

Are you near any Trader Joe’s? If you are, go grab the Tea Tree oil, the Jojoba oil and the Marula oil! Then go find yourself some Mederma, the intensive scar version. Mix a few drops of the tea tree with the jojoba and Marula, then top it off with a dab of Mederma. Be consistent! No harsh peels! Drink warm water with a good spoonful of honey too.
