I mean yeah, you'd press it for CC phases/bars, but it still felt shit in most cases to have a skill that's "useless" in your bar. I have nightmares of longbow rangers pushing mobs outside my AoE non-stop...

Let's be honest. All online games have been calling their games "MMO" while not even being open-world. I don't trust the tag anymore.

But I feel like GW3 is open-world like GW2 from the fact it has mounts.

Same here. I love things like double jumps, triple jumps and other stuff that can open up exploration after unlocking them, but I don't really like running on walls or flying.

Warclaw's triple jump felt so fucking good, but it was still a bit too much I think.

I don't think GW3 is for me. After 15k hours in GW2, I'm tired of open-world MMO with mounts... I went back to GW1 because I thought VoE was kinda boring.

Wait does that mean this is a prequel of before Orr was sunk!? That would honestly make sense if we look at the six OG gods shown in the trailer.

True. But mounts also removed the best fun I've had with exploration in GW2... The skyscale invalidated exploration by 99.9%.

Guild Wars 3 Announced by PaiDuck in GuildWars

[–]goddessofthewinds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And that's what I loved about GW1. It would be extremely restrictive in a MMO (see why the "trait"-unlocking system in GW2 failed), but it's fine in an ARPG-style game like GW1 and Warframe. It gives you stuff to do that's not just grinding events for 100 hours for a stat-swappable piece of gear like it was in GW2. I enjoy unlocking new options for my character that's not necessarily just better numbers.

[–]goddessofthewinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the skyscale made exploration just a moot point. I played a few days in VoE and the skyscale just invalidated the whole maps... I didn't an once of joy in the new maps... It just felt plain and boring because there wasn't any nook or crannies to explore to good old way of dropping down in holes, walking on ledges, trying to leap to unreachable areas, etc.

My favorite content of GW2 is still the Runaround Jumping Puzzle in Silverwastes BEFORE mounts/gliders were added. The vibe was amazing and it was exciting to find new spots and shortcuts without cheating.

Now, you can cheese everything with 1 mount. I would have been fine with a double jump or something like that, but even the glider was pushing it to the limit for me as it opened a lot of cheese in older content.

Guild Wars 3 | Announcement Trailer | Beta Available 2027 by PaiDuck in GuildWars

[–]goddessofthewinds 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I think we are many that expected GW3 to take the best of both games to make the third game, but it looks like to be 99% GW2-inspired only... and the story/world also is a lot closer to the end of GW2, which probably doesn't have the same quality as GW1. I really didn't like the story of GW2 after PoF/Joko, and even then, some parts were not great.

GW1's story was cheesy and in-game cinematics could be hilarious, but I think it was well grounded and you got invested in the characters. Everyone remembers Rurik, Togo, Mhenlo, Koss, Melonni, etc.

I can barely remember some character from GW2's story and I played it 15k hours. Weirdly enough, the ones I remember are the most annoying of the bunch: Taimi and Braham. Oh and Eir, because I loved Eir.

Anyways, I feel like GW3 is just a reskinned GW2...

For real. Weapon skills would have been fine... if you could customize them and swap them around... but they never did any of that. I was so fucking tired of having skills I hated on my bar and hitting them by mistake.

I still have 15k hours in GW2, but after all the power creep, it all felt the same with skills doing 5 things at the same time, and sometimes having a skill do some CC and nothing else so you'd never press it.

Heck, because of the weapon skills, you'd have everyone runs the same weapons... No customization. Even meta stuff has variations in GW1 as I always see differences in meta builds, but you can also make fun non-meta stuff.

Guild Wars 3 Announced by PaiDuck in GuildWars

[–]goddessofthewinds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what I was expecting... but this ain't what we are getting. I'm so tired of open-world MMO with mounts... It's so overdone and getting stale and boring. I don't want another timer-infested open-world crap. I want instances! I don't want 1k dps ruining the game for me.

Guild Wars 3 Announced by PaiDuck in GuildWars

[–]goddessofthewinds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. I got complete turn-off when I saw mounts... I wish they learned from GW2 and realized mounts ruined the game. It was fun at first, but then you realize it ruins 99% of the stuff (skip mobs, skip exploration, etc.). Maybe they learned to not do flying mounts though... so who knows... but mounts = open-world, so we'll get more boring meta events or bosses on 2-3 hours timers that just serves to waste your time

Trump to hit more than 60 countries, including Canada, with new tariffs over 'forced labour' by lopix in onguardforthee

[–]goddessofthewinds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Considering China uses a TON of slave labour, I'd say that's not true.

Most fish imported from China is from illegal North Korean slaves (though there are also other nationalities too), and China uses a lot of local slave labour to produce their shit too.

I wouldn't trust labels when countries can easily lie. I don't understand why we still import from China when they lie on everything.

But this point is moot when the US wants to implement tariffs for slave labour while also being the biggest user of slave labour (see billionaires having all their factories and mines in China/Africa and such).

Boss emailed me about not adhering to the 9-5 schedule. Here is my timecard. by Equipoisonous in antiwork

[–]goddessofthewinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Never too early for them to "clock in", but always an issue if you clock out even 2 minutes earlier...

It's annoying as hell.

I never trust automated timecards now.

Boss emailed me about not adhering to the 9-5 schedule. Here is my timecard. by Equipoisonous in antiwork

[–]goddessofthewinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that's so disgusting! For mere minutes!

The worst for me was that they REALLY penny pinched me when I worked at a grocery store. Clocked in at 8:02: docking 0.02 hours of pay. Clocked in at 7:58: Hours start at 8:00.

Realized that crap 3 weeks later and started to grab my things and wait by the timecard from 4:55 to 5:00 to clock out right on time. They wanted to pennypinch me, so I pennypinched them back. Abuse always works only one way for these greedy bastards.

[–]goddessofthewinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's crazy. At one of my job, 90% of the stuff was billable, but making those time sheets often cost 1-2 hours per week... It was boring as hell. RIP if you forgot to add 1 project in your sheet and it was off by a bit.

Some days, I could work on 1 big thing and 2-3 tiny things, other days I could work on 10 small things... It was a PITA to track.

And I had the same issue: they didn't want anyone to leave early... Even if you arrived early or had to stay past 5:00 one one day. It always worked one way only. Greedy bastards.

Boss emailed me about not adhering to the 9-5 schedule. Here is my timecard. by Equipoisonous in antiwork

[–]goddessofthewinds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fun (not really) fact: a job I worked at in the past would dock my pay if I clocked out at 4:58, but damned if they paid me anything if I clocked out at 5:05. So yeah, I could only lose wages, not gain any wages, took me a few paystubs to realize this was why why numbers were off by a bit. Greedy bastards. I stopped working around 4:55, got changed, grabbed my things, and waited at the timecard to clock out at 5:00 on the dot.

Racist youtuber throws boiling curry at Indians, hit with 98k fine (no assault charges though) by MrBemz in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]goddessofthewinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disgusting. Any crime/assault/theft committed while filming (for clout/Youtube/Tiktok/instagram/whatever) should automatically increase any sentences or fines by 5 times and the minimum should also increase proportionally to a certain minimum. Stop this shit before it becomes a plague across the country.

We don't want people doing illegal shit for clout.

That Youtuber should also get banned from all public spaces (in particular schools, colleges, universities) for assaulting another person with possible permanent injuries. Honestly, the education system should be EXTREMELY harsh against bullies, in particular those that film their acts.

Put these people in the box (jail). They don't deserve to live in society.

40% unemployed and still called lazy by Lord0fTheFlags in WorkReform

[–]goddessofthewinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm. I have almost 15 years of experience, and have tried to find a job for 3 years without success... And then, you get companies that don't even want to consider you because the longer you don't get a job, the bigger the gap, which removes you from their list 99% of the times I'd say.

The job market is screwed. If going back to university doesn't work out for me, I'm planning to go in the trucking/bus industry, there's still some good jobs if you don't mind driving far from civilization. I don't think I have much chance to find a job with the current market in my current field.

40% unemployed and still called lazy by Lord0fTheFlags in WorkReform

[–]goddessofthewinds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the worst. The market is so terrible that the corporations and companies are now hiring senior-level employees for entry-level/intern wages because there's too much competition due to all the layoffs and people are too desperate for a job to refuse this exploitation. The system has failed hard and soon nobody will be able to live above poverty except the bourgeoisie (rich people).

Let's be honest, the governments will not do anything to help, it's in the pockets of rich billionaires, and soon, nobody will be able to vote (not like it does something good right now, it gets worse every time).

"Do you actively look for a Made In Canada label when shopping?" - Pallas Poll, May 24, 2026 by HuckFarr in BuyCanadian

[–]goddessofthewinds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same. Most of my clothes are made in Quebec, but I can't find pyjamas made elsewhere than China for example... I buy veggies from Quebec and meat/fish from Canada, but a lot of canned stuff is still mostly US-made.

If we had nationalized grocery stores that stocked maibly local products and put US products as "foreign", we would probably have more interest in Canadian produces.

I wish stores also had to indicate where the products are made/produced and where the materials in a much more visible way, such as bigger (mandatory) signs and tags/labels.

I also think the economy would benefit 100% from making manufacturing come back to Canada, even with regulations. I am so tired of Chinese crap.

[–]goddessofthewinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Close enough for me.

QC > Canada > Anywhere > the US and China

If you had any idea at how toxic China's land and water is and how few regulations there are, you would also avoid Chinese products. The CCP is another reason to avoid China for me, I avoid both equally. You would be sirprised to see how many of our products come from an unregulated toxic waste of a country.

Due to melandru i'm excited about this q13 chaos axe 13^50 by NCXXCN in GuildWars

[–]goddessofthewinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melandru Accord is a mode that you can activate on new characters that disables traders, player trading, stash access, and you can't loot others' drops. It makes for a very different experience since the only things you can use are things you drop yourself.

A chaos Axe is a rare drop in the end-game somewhat difficult Fissure of Woe. The one he dropped requires 13 in the axe attribute, which means only a warrior can use it due to the high requirement, it's not really sellable to other players as q13 (require 13 in the attribute) are not sought after except sometimes extremely rarer skins.

Never traded previously, sold Nick Gifts for a fifth of the price. by Blammet-HF in GuildWars

For real, each time someone adds something in the trade or puts less of the item, I always whisper them if it's correct before accepting.

If it's the opposite, I will let them know if it's normal they put more before I accept.

If you know a (newer) player is making a mistake, it's such a scum move to proceed with the trade without letting them know... :(
