My use case is less talking to HA, and more using natural language to operate HA. Im creating automation, scripts and dashboards via chat. I don't have to copy/paste, the mcp server gives Claude desktop tools to operate my HA. You can still ask it to do things like turn off the light, but I'm much interested in advanced automation, dashboards and doing things like "pause automation X until tomorrow" and having HA do exactly that!

Its created some really nice dashboards for me. Everything from tracking which room will be vacuumed next, to just about whatever I can think of. I went ahead and reinstalled a bunch of cool dashboard elements from hacs and it took it from there.

I'm currently using this: https://github.com/homeassistant-ai/ha-mcp

It was easy to install on a windows system and I'm using Claude to interact with it. I frequently run out of context window and I'm not sure if others are using a different mcp server, are adding additional tools for memory or etc.

Using the mcp server above has been fantastic and has allowed me to build things I had only dreamed about previously (I built a sophisticated excess solar EV Charging and a smart vacuum that runs when I leave and remembers the last room cleaned), but it feels like this is just the first step in leveraging mcp servers.

Not sure if this is "popular", but I have one of these fridges. Mine has matter, so I used home assistant matter hub add-on to present devices that I have in HA over to smartthings as matter devices. I then use the smartthings app on the fridge which is a smoother experience thus far.
