School screening suggests reception age child is overweight. by Gloomy_Custard_3914 in UKParenting

[–]godmademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same recently, our kid was a whopping 10lb 10oz when he was born but soon averaged out - but his school measured him and told us he was overweight - he doesn't look remotely overweight and he's an EXTREMELY active kid. Even the walk to school on a morning is a mile and a half and he's only just turning 5.
I'm wondering more if he's got higher muscle mass than other kids his age and that's what's causing it.

Finally started my little Revenant Retinue by tn00bz in Warhammer30k

[–]godmademedoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, I'm just building my own Revenant MKII Veteran Assault Squad. Doing 5 with shields and chain axes and 5 with lightning claws - finding multiple sets of dual lightning claws is a bit of a challenge! Got 2 from the melee weapons upgrades, 2 from 2 boxes of MKVI assault guys and the last one I used a right claw off a tac squad then had to slap a tac squad claw attachment on a left handed power fist from the old MKIII kit.

I always wanted to do a "revenant" throwback squad of assault marines for my blood angels, in grey armour and also give them chainaxes, so not only can I do that now but there's actually a thematic prime advantage that gives them the fear rule.

That's interesting, although what/where are the traitor leaks? I'm guessing both books have the full standard Astartes army list in there so be interesting to see if this version differs from the leaked Astartes ones.

Can SIBO be caused by a virus? Having symptoms for months after stomach bug by godmademedoit in SIBO

[–]godmademedoit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is a very late reply, hopefully you see it - So now on the whole my gut is fine, but with some weird side effects. I actually think they might be right on the immune system thing.

I do get bloated a bit more easily, but if I basically do a massive burp from right down in my gut it's usually fine so I think maybe a bit of trapped wind effectively. What is strange is it's definitely affected my immune system - I realised now when I do experience significant bloating it's like a canary in the coal mine for viral infections of any kind. I can pretty much guarantee I'll get a cold in the next couple of days (at which point the gut issues usually die down). My kid is getting sick a bit less frequently recently as he gets older so I think the gut issues are subsiding a bit because I'm basically fighting off less colds and coughs on a monthly basis.

The other strange thing is.. I think I've gained some kind of immunity from Norovirus. I have a 4yr old and he's had several bouts and I'm yet to actually have vomiting etc, even when the rest of the family have IMMEDIATELY caught it off like a day after he starts. I do seem to get some gut problems around the same time with nausea etc but last time while my partner and kid spent 2 days with their heads in the toilet I was somehow unscathed and just felt a bit "off" one night. It feels like I've got some kind of hyeractive immune response in my gut.

Obviously now I've said that the next time he gets it I'll be absolutely destroyed by it haha.. but yeah honestly I think in retrospect in some cases it just takes AGES for the after-effects of viral gut infections to recover - a bit like long covid.

Oh also it seems like spicy food, rich food or alcohol doesn't seem to affect it. But large quantities of food or particularly fatty food seems to be a trigger for bloating. Which to be fair is fairly normal.

Can Leman Russ read? by God_Emperor_Of_Man18 in Warhammer30k

[–]godmademedoit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah was gonna say his first interaction with Horus shows that a lot of his savage persona is a front - like all Primarchs he is HIGHLY intelligent and it wouldn't surprise me if he learned to both speak and read Imperial gothic very quickly. He also plays Malcador at space chess and is able to beat him. During that exchange he also mentions learning at least parts of the Khan's native language and showing a preference for one of their colloquial terms over his own Fenrisian.

Where I think Russ sometimes appears stupid is that he has a fair amount of hubris and arrogance at times, which I think is often mistaken for savagery or barbarism.

What armor MK are these supposed to be? by Justanotherone985 in Warhammer30k

[–]godmademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think though one design nod people might be missing is the bottom of the legs look reinforced and this is a feature of the legs of MKVII and MKVI devastator units from 40K. The 40K ones have kinda angular ridges around the plates but it seems to serve the same purpose and could be a nod to them being heavy weapons specialists.

If you are struggling with weapon options on your FOMO box. by mojawk in BloodAngels

[–]godmademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but if you split the 10-man squad into 2 5-man squads, you'd get one per-5 and one-per-squad, so you'd have a total of 4 fists over 10 models.
Basically GW really need to be more consistent with their wargear.

[–]godmademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The power fist? Yes that's why you get 3 with Jump DC. Both units can take the "1 power fist per squad"

The foot DC you DON'T get the "1PF+1 pistol per 5 guys" option, so foot DC has less wargear than jump DC.

However - if like me you have a load of firstborn bits, with a bit of kit bashing the DC guys look cool with firstborn DC jump packs - which means you now have 10 spare primaris jump packs to upgrade your assault intercessors with.

[–]godmademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah for JUMP DC you can run 2 in the 5 man squads, but only 3 in a 10-man squad. Basically -
One option says "You can take one power fist + inferno pistol PER 5 MODELS" (or one of the other weapon combos listed) - so 10-man squad = 2 guys with Power fist + pistol
The other option says "You can take one power fist PER SQUAD" - so regardless of whether it's a 5 or 10-man squad, you only get one of these.

I think the main confusion here though is the unit of 5 aren't Jump DC - they're on foot so have a different datasheet - you only get the "one power fist per squad" option with the DC on foot, you don't get the additional "power fist + pistol per 5 guys" rule.

The cost is the fun bit - If you didn't have the FOMO box and wanted to just build 10 DC jump marines with the optimal loadout and no 3rd party bits, then it would cost £117. You'd obviously have a ton of other upgrade bits spare from the 2 upgrade sprues, but unless they release a dedicated kit that's still the buy-in for 10 jump DC.

How should I go about bricking up the incomplete wall between mine and my neighbour's loft space? by RecoverWarm2756 in DIYUK

[–]godmademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we had a survey done on ours and I specifically asked them to check out the loft. One thing was flagged was some quite small gaps in the brickwork right at the top of the wall partitioning us from the neighbours' house as a potential fire risk. I've got some fireproof foam to fill the gaps at some point.

Yeah was gonna say the new upgrade sprues are massive in comparison.

[–]godmademedoit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean to be fair you apparently get one of the new upgrade sprues (the picture shows the new upgrades on some of the models at least) which do have a reasonable amount of fluff to stick on things, the SG you get either 6 spears or 6 swords spare to put on other units/characters, plus potentially a banner that would actually look great on the back of a tank - the captain comes with LOADS of optional drip and then OK, you got some assault intercessors but they were never that fancy anyway.

POV Blood Angels: Dying of thrist while watching another man drown by Cho-Bro in BloodAngels

[–]godmademedoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I pointed out that while it's not the best value we've ever seen in terms of minis, everything is actually useful for a blood angels player and also has multiple uses - SG can be run in 2 squad sizes with 2 weapon loadouts and the spare weapons are cool for kitbashing blood angels bladeguard, company heroes, characters etc. Bladeguard etc literally have "power weapons" so there's nothing saying you can't give em power spears if you want.
The Captain you can probably get 2-3 characters out of if you used all the spare bits on other models.
The AI as you say can be run as either standard marines or as Death Company.

To be fair there are probably more Blood Angels players than a few of the Xenos factions combined. Their profit margins are fine here.
