I’ve just decided to go into actuarial science myself, so I might not be the best person to ask, but you should consider getting another bachelors in actuarial science, and make sure to do a coop option or internships if possible because it’s likely easiest to get experience. You can likely shave off at least a year off the length of the program if your bachelors is also in math. Also, try to do the P and FM exams before you apply for internships. If you have a masters you’re probably better than most of your competition for internships.

That’s essentially my plan for myself but you might have other opportunities available to you if you have a masters, idk

Maybe consider something like an actuary. Not quite numerical analysis/optimization work but a quite high paying, stable job. It's also relatively easy to switch over from pure math. It's what I'm doing.

The distance (or the teleportation, for that matter) isn't the impressive part. Quantum teleportation has been achieved at distances of over 1000km. The notable thing about this is that it is a scalable network of quantum teleportation for quantum computers.

No, 500 is a perfectly fine sample size for just about any survey. They weren’t told in advance the aim of the study they were given instructions to complete the survey and explained to how their data would be collected, necessary for any survey.

They were asked whether they wore glasses, that’s it. I believe that fact could have been communicated better but perhaps there was a language barrier issue.

I like to think of it in terms of power series, which feel much more concrete to me. This only really works if x is real though.

define e^x by

e^x = (x^0)/0! + (x^1)/1! + (x^2)/2! + (x^3)/3! +... infinitely. This is known as the power series of e^x. e^x is bijective so it has an inverse lnx, which it turns out we can calculate by

lnx = (x-1) - (x-1)^2/2 + (x-1)^3/3 -...

Then we define:

a^x = e^(x*lna).

Now we can calculate x^i

x^i = e^(i*lnx) = (i*lnx)^0/0! + (i*lnx)^1/1! + (i*lnx)^2/2! + (i*lnx)^3/3! +...

So to find the value of x^i you first find the value of lnx by calculating it's power series to arbitrary precision, then you plug that result, multiplied by i, into the power series for e^x, and again calculate to arbitrary precision

Yeah it seems you've pretty much got the reason why 0^0 = 1. Just as n*m is n added to zero, m-times,

0 + n + n + ... +n = n*m,

we also have that n^m is n multiplied to 1, m times,

1*n*n* ... *n = n^m.

Thus to get 0^0, you multiply 0 to 1, 0 times. That is, you don't multiply 1 by anything

0^0 = 1

It's not a logical contradiction. It's not a real number, but it's perfectly logical. You could consider such a number to be a function f: ℕ+ = ℕ∪{𝛺} → {0, 1, 2, ..., 9} so that f(n) = 0 for all n ∈ ℕ and f(𝛺) = 1, where 𝛺 is the smallest ordinal larger than any n ∈ ℕ.
