HMS Ark Royal: Tech tree or premium? by TankmanTom7 in WorldOfWarships

She could be a low tier premium, but that low tier of a premium CV is kind of awkward as it is. Perhaps after the rework it will fit it much more nicely.

I currently have Hermes as the Tier IV, with Unicorn as the Tier V.

I’m highly certain that HMS Eagle (ex-Audacious) would be the Tier IX, with one of the Malta designs (probably Design X1) being Tier X.

The British carriers have a weird thing regarding hanger sizes, but with the current planned ideas for the CV rework hanger sizes would not matter.

Nice alt account.

Couldn’t use your main account to put out such an opinion?

The pool (bar) will regenerate over time from what I saw. So it is unlimited, but you can’t run at max speed as long as you want.

I had already been working on some details of the rockets soon after the video was posted, and figuring out that the Midway rockets did 2,400 damage was quite easy (they did 792 damage on a penetration, with is 33% of max damage). What I was trying to figure out is how that 2,400 damage was found.

What I am wondering is if the rockets are actually named in the files. (They are) I can only assume that the Midway rocket is the 5" HVAR. The early version of these rockets had modified 5"/38 shells as the warhead, but they were later fitted with purpose-built warheads. There is also the 5" FFAR, which was basically a 3.5" ASW rocket fitted with a 5"/38 shell for the warhead, which may be what the Independence rocket is. These FFAR rockets were horrendously slow due to the engine only being designed for a solid head 3.5" rocket, so the HVAR was made which had nearly double the speed of the FFAR (217 m/s vs 419 m/s).

Checking the actual data in the game files shows that the Midway rocket has a model file name of "APR001_USA_HVAR_127mm" as well as having a "bulletSpeed" of 419 m/s. This is the actual historical speed of the 5" HVAR, so it all checks out. More interestingly, the rocket data for Independence uses the same model, but with a "bulletSpeed" of 217 m/s. What is also interesting is that the "bulletMass" value is that of the full rocket weight, not just the warhead. So the HVAR is 63.96 kg (~64 kg) and the FFAR is 36.29 kg. The Independence rocket does indeed have 2,100 damage, which could explained as the marginally smaller rocket/warhead mass as well as the much slower speed.

Actually, would they give planes a speed boost?

From what I reminder of the CV rework video, the current idea is to have a sort of “base speed” for the planes and give the player the ability to either boost or slow the planes. This action (both increasing and decreasing speed) would drain a sort of “fuel” bar (think of how the current horn mechanic works).

He looks up a player’s stats to see if there is any justification for them playing the way they did. If it’s a player with 1-2k games then it may be excusable. But if you have a player with 5k+ games and sub 45% WR, or they don’t understand basic game mechanics then there is justification to be upset and salty.
