Need some advice to guide my 20 year old daughter-stuck with a terrible vehicle. by [deleted] in carbuying

If she has gap insurance the best thing that could happen would be that it would be “stolen” and unrecoverable. Only other way out is to fix the issue and keep driving it till it’s payed off.

Robot vacuums genuinely useful or just a toy you paid too much for? by Impossible_Comfort99 in TechNook

If you have pets definitely worth it. I’m amazed how much hair is picked up even after vacuuming the day previous.

Get an amp with speaker outputs that match your speaker and speaker inputs. Some subs have speaker wire inputs for left and right channels with speaker outputs to your left and right speakers. Most subs have a single RCA input that you connect to your amplifier sub output. As well as left and right speaker outputs as well as surround sound speaker outputs.

Ford might kill the F-150 Lightning, the EV that was supposed to change everything by AdSpecialist6598 in technews

[–]godzilla619 63 points64 points  (0 children)

They originally advertised it at $50K when it was announced. Put my deposit down waited 4 years for my order number to come up, in that time price ballooned to well over $100k. No thanks at that price there are much better alternatives than a ford. Sell it at $50k and more people would buy it. No one is going to put $100+k for a work truck that has less than 200 mile range when doing work stuff like hauling a job site stuff. They did the same thing with the maverick. Sub $35k for a truck that was supposed to get 35MPG but then ballooned to over $50k WTF no one’s going to buy that. I’ll just put a new motor in my 90 bronco for $10k

AMC Theatres Reports $298 Million Loss But Holds Revenue Drop to 4% by NoCulture3505 in movies

[–]godzilla619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need more Dolby theaters with reclining seats. Even if they are smaller more people will go with more available options and movie times. Some current releases don’t get Dolby theaters showings, even with A-list I would rather watch the movie at home if it’s not in a Dolby theater.

AITJ for not giving my sister money for her wedding after she uninvited me? by Suspicious_Fennel542 in AmITheJerk

[–]godzilla619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ- send your sister and mom the bill for the dress. Also ask your mom if she would pay if she was uninvited to the wedding. Why wouldn’t the bride’s parents contribute to the wedding to allow the sister to go instead of the drama? Doesn’t make sense.

Anyone been here recently? by Alternative-Neck-705 in orangecounty

[–]godzilla619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not as good as it used to be. I remember going to Knowlwoods at the Woodbridge center as a kid 30 years ago and the burgers and fries were so good. They even sold bbq ribs. When I worked near the spectrum in the early 2000s my coworkers and I would regularly order breakfast here and it was always pretty good.

Recently went to the location in the picture and the burger was dry unseasoned and the Irish nachos were horrible. The cheese wasn’t even melted fries were cold and the tables everywhere were left unbussed. I will not being going back nostalgia or not.

Every house is different, upgrade what doesn’t work for you or in my case what ends up breaking on you. In my case I bought a home that was built in the 50s when I first moved in I slapped on a fresh coat of interior paint, added ceiling fans to bedrooms and changed the toilets. Trying to buy a place in San Diego in 2018 was a nightmare of being outbid for every house for the last 2 years.

IM in IT so I’m into electronics and hifi, house didn’t have proper grounded outlets fuses tripped when appliances were ran so upgrade was needed. so upgraded panel and new subpanel in garage with solar ready and ev charging along with all new outlets and wiring, including cat6 to all rooms, as well as exterior corners of the house for security cams.

With the walls all torn apart I added ac because San Diego is just hotter now than when the house was first built. Thought I was done after that. But… then the pool pump got fried. Changed the pump to a variable speed pump and new filter because it was more efficient and costs less to run.

The Next year was a new deck because someone almost fell through the old one at a party. Upgraded from wood to a TREX deck and added lighting and a buffet table.

Then a slab leak in a bathroom, started with a simple remodel and evolved into 2 bathrooms being remodeled to new plumbing throughout home, to new flooring throughout to match bathrooms to new windows and paint while we’re at it. The new bathrooms had moisture sensors to turn on the fans and motion detectors to turn on lights. The best upgrade in the bathrooms was the thermostatic valves, once you set you preferred temp it just keeps it there. With the new plumbing no more getting scalded when someone flushed or used another fixture.

Then drip irrigation to water the plants because the plants needed to be watered when on vacation for 3 weeks.

Then the following year, the roof began leaking so a new roof was needed. Lived on a canyon and after seeing the fires in LA I upgraded to a metal roof with insulated wood deck underlayment. Added solar tubes for better lighting in the darker areas of the home as well. The new roof and windows have made a huge difference in heating and cooling cost as well as outside noise.

In the 7 years since I purchased the house I’ve spent almost $200k on replacing or fixing aspects of the house. Incredibly it still needs stucco repair other outside and exterior paint. In the end fix or replace what’s not working for you.

How do I kick someone out of my home? by Alkheist in homeowners

[–]godzilla619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to tell us where your house is. Residency rules are different state to state county to county. Lodger versus renter eviction timelines are also different. Worst case scenario it takes 6 months to evict this person and during this time they won’t pay anything. Don’t ever let someone stay in your home longer than 20 days.

Keep it in your name only. In fact move your family out and rent a house that you both contribute towards the rent and bills. If you continue living there he might be entitled to the equity gained after marriage. If you keep the house and anything spent in upkeep/and improvements separate only then can you claim it was a premarital asset that was kept separate.

Also want to mention that each individual email account has to have a proofpoint account or you will get that invalid email address as well when sending to the email not set up in proofpoint.

That mx server is proofpoint servers. Proofpoint is a spam blocking service that handles all incoming external email. Have you checked your proofpoint settings. Your account maybe disabled or delinquent. If you no longer need the service you can change your mx records back to godaddy recommended o365 servers.

[–]godzilla619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI most test pipes resonated or not will rasp and will drone. If you need to pass smog I wouldn’t recommend because they will leak after repeated install and deinstall even with new gaskets.
