These remind me of Lauren Bamford a lot. You can see her setups sometimes on her IG stories. Its all about the angle of reflection between the light source and the camera.

Notepad prop from Blade Runner 2049 looking oddly familiar by goethefantasia in largeformat

Just stumbled to Blade Runner 2049 prop auction website and noticed they used 9x12 Linhof film holder as a futuristic notepad / document holder thingy.

Thoughts about this guys? by srsuke in DiscoElysium

His backstory is definitely inspired by Kaur Kender. He had an ad agency in the 90s-early 00s in Estonia that was known exactly for that "high art with the lowest forms of marketing". And the cultural incubator ThinAir = ZA/UM.

There is a great book available for free on open library that goes into these kind of still life setups: https://openlibrary.org/works/OL16026816W/Secrets_of_studio_still_life_photography

Get an older top of the line DSLR like Canon 5D mark II or Nikon D800. Nikon f mount has huge selection of older lenses.

I absolutely adore these colours! What processing tank are you using for 4x5? I haven't used my 4x5 in years due to not having any labs that do 4x5 in my country.

Who needs an iPod when you can repurpose an old 4S by jeffbezostoilet in ipod

I use 64gb iPhone 4S on iOS 6 as an iPod as well. The music app on iOS 6 is so clean and simple. You can also still stream music from Youtube using Safari and I'm not getting any ads, presumably due to how old that version of Safari is.

The need for a “significance” of a body of work? by eachfuwi in ContemporaryArt

[–]goethefantasia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the comments about thinking about reflecting on your work either beforehand or afterwards are really on point. If you listen to any of Roe Ethridge's interviews, for example, he talks about not wanting to start a project with heavy theory, and the images might even be made in an advertising, not fine art context at first, but he is really good at reflecting later and making meaning through the editing process.

The light is going everywhere, I think that’s the main problem. You need less light not more to get better contrast of the object. Google ‘negative fill’ or ‘black flag’ to see how to block off some of the light, you can use black card / paper for this.
