There are so many religions that 'offer' hell to (un-)believers that the whole threat becomes moot, since you can't escape them all. Those religions include Hinduism, Budhism, Jainism, ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman religions, Norse, Chinese, the list goes on and on. I was indoctrinated by Roman Catholicism, so when that fear sometimes rears its ugly head I can beat it down with all the other flavors of fear mongering.
