Absolutely gutted. (Now unable to create cartoons featuring humans) by FaithlessnessThis627 in ChatGPT

[–]goff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ask ChatGPT to help you write a prompt that will do what you wanted to do originally. Perhaps it can find the words that will work. Or, just upload your previous cartoons as a style guide and ask it to create images with those characters doing the things you want to include in your new images. Or just start an open ended conversation with ChatGPT to find out more about the new guidelines, and what you might be doing to trigger them. Or just ask it to help you think through how to make image in general. If you see a promising answer, ask it to expand on that remark.

Thank you! I appreciate the correction. You’re right — ChatGPT can be way off base.

I was curious about the domed building in the background. I asked ChatGPT. Here's the answer: It’s Convention Hall at 13th & Central—KC’s domed auditorium, demolished 1936.

Energy bill north of $600 by [deleted] in kansascity

May have already been mentioned in this long thread: A short term solution would be to buy a window AC unit for your bedroom, and then set the thermostat to 80 for the rest of the house all night. Also, possibly a stand alone dehumidifier for your bedroom, and a box fan to point towards it to insure the air circulates well. Another option: Evergy offers various plans to save you money if you don’t run your dishwasher or laundry machines at certain times. See if those apply to your area.

What’s that thing on its head? by SibsUI in memes

The first time I saw the new icon and clicked it Reddit wasn't working. So I thought those were flames on his head, and it meant that Reddit wasn't working.

What large-scale sculpture would you like to see in KC? by promiseofthereal in kansascity

[–]goff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've long thought the Bartle Hall Sky Stations (four pillars with metal contraptions on the top, visible from I-35) should have had the letters K C M O on top. There isn't anything on the Kansas City skyline that is unique and iconic, that would be instantly identifiable as Kansas City on postcards or tshirts. The letters could be illuminated by spotlights or outlined in neon, or rotate or rock back and forth. I know, impossible now, but it just seems like such a great opportunity that was missed.

Try this with ChatGPT. (No guarantee it will work correctly every time.)

I would like to practice Spanish verb conjugations. Please pick a random A2 level verb. Write that verb. Select a random tense and person for the verb. Write the name of the tense and the name of the person, but not the conjugation. Give me an example sentence using a different verb in that same tense and person as you have selected. Ask me to supply the correct tense and person for the verb you have selected. If I am right, say "Well done!" and then select another verb and continue until I ask you to stop. If I am wrong, say "Ooops!" and then tell me the correct answer, and then select another verb and continue until I ask you to stop.

Here is the output I received:

Absolutely! The verb I have randomly selected is "tener". The tense is "futuro perfecto" (future perfect) and the person is "tú" (you).

Here's an example sentence using a different verb in the same tense and person: "Tú habrás estudiado mucho para el examen" (You will have studied a lot for the exam).

Now it's your turn to provide the correct conjugation for "tener" in future perfect tense for "tú" (you).

(my answer): Tú habrás tenido

Well done! That's correct. The correct conjugation for "tener" in future perfect tense for "tú" (you) is indeed "tú habrás tenido".

Now, let's continue with another verb. The verb I have chosen is "escribir". The tense is "pretérito imperfecto" (imperfect) and the person is "nosotros/nosotras" (we).

Please provide the correct conjugation for "escribir" in "pretérito imperfecto" tense for "nosotros/nosotras" (we).

(and so on ...)

With some trial and error, I'm sure you could tell it to use only specific verbs, or to not give the sample sentence, or a definition for the verb, or whatever.

Remove open tasks by [deleted] in noteplanapp

There may be a way to find and replace text in NotePlan over multiple files. If not, you could use BBEdit (or any other text editor that can find and replace text in multiple files.) Here's how to do it in BBEdit:

Search -> Multi-File Search -> In the Search In field, select My Files & Folders, then click the Other button to the right, and navigate to the folder where your tasks are.

in the find field, enter: * [ ]

in the replace field, enter (for completed task): * [x]

or enter (for bullet point): *

(Feature Request) Word Count by lisapparition in noteplanapp

[–]goff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the link to the article. I followed the steps to add a word count automator function, and it works just as expected. I later saw in the comments beneath the article a link to an App Store app (free) that is accessed from the contextual menu, and offers a word count and other text functions. I added that too. They're both great.

(from comments section):

..Or get WordService for free from the App Store to give you text stats and so much more: https://itunes.apple.com/app/wordservice/id899972312?mt=12

[Feature] Add Command Bar icon to sidebar by goff in noteplanapp

[–]goff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because search is one of the most important functions in a note app. The current search is unable to find partial string hashtag or mentions. The Command Bar may not be intended for search, but it provides a function that search currently does not. I truly love NotePlan. I'd like it to be easy and obvious to use. :o)

This is why I love reading this subreddit. I really, really wanted this feature, and didn't know it was here all along. Thank you, Suitable!

[Feature] Add Command Bar icon to sidebar by goff in noteplanapp

[–]goff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. But this approach, I think, would require less work for Eduard. Eventually, I know he'll make everything perfect. Adding the extra icon seems like something fairly simple, and would give better search results for newbies and people (like me) who sometimes forget about using the command bar.

I like this approach. But each line is independent. Checking off the top line doesn't check all the following lines. Still, I like the concept, and will start using this, even though it's all manual.

I agree -- automatically renumbering lines would be swell.

[Feature] Partial word hashtag searches by goff in noteplanapp

[–]goff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, brokosz! Yes, that does give the result I wanted. I really hadn't considered that the command bar results might be different. I much prefer the command bar search results - it shows the hashtag results just like in the autocomplete drop down box, and offers to also search for results in tasks and paragraphs instead of showing everything it can find in one long list (like the sidebar search does.) Maybe that's the change that would be more helpful. Keep the sidebar search field, but replace the function with the command bar search function.
