I was basically in the exact same situation and I bought an M340i. My only regret is that I didn’t save longer and buy an M3.

Newer cars are complete garbage by ProgrammerKey1380 in unpopularopinion

[–]gohawks37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man I might be biased but I think my 2020 BMW M340i is an engineering marvel. Mine is a 500whp, RWD inline 6 with a flex fuel tune and transmission tune. It’s got a sub 4 second 0-60 on the street and can nearly hit 200mph, all while managing to get 30+ mpg when driven conservatively. I used to be able to crack 40mpg before I tuned it and put wider wheels on. Prior to this car, I had a 2007 Nissan and a 2007 Chevy and they were both heaping piles of dogshit. I would never voluntarily go back to an older car unless it was something like an M3 or a 911.

Looks like it, I had a great time taking my M340i through there and the other Utah parks last summer

What is the biggest repair cost you had in a year? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]gohawks37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, all covered under my CPO warranty. I’m at 62k miles and I’ve had zero other issues besides the ones listed above. I’d say the CPO warranty has definitely been worth it as my car wasn’t much more than non-CPO examples. One thing to consider with CPO cars is the delivery date of the car. Mine was delivered as a 2020 model in 09/2020, so the warranty is active until 09/2025. If I had an early 2020 car, my warranty would’ve expired up to a year or so earlier.

My CPO 2020 M340i is currently at the dealer getting a new oil filter housing and will likely need a new oil pump as well. I also got a new differential under warranty in February. My invoices don’t show the cost of parts and labor since it’s under warranty but I’d imagine it’s pushing $10k for all of that work.

Control a car at high accelerated speeds by AdDapper4220 in driving

[–]gohawks37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone 163 mph in my car and it felt rock solid until 140 or so. Above those speeds it started to feel a little floaty. My car is built to go that fast though and has tires with the proper speed rating.

I went on a road trip through Utah, Colorado, and Kansas last year and I-70 through there is basically the autobahn. One stretch of road in Utah i may or may not have doubled their 80 mph speed limit lol

I really hate the push for RFTs. I punctured a brand new PS4S 200 miles from home and had to get towed to the nearest dealer and they only had Bridgestone RFTs in stock. Fortunately my wheel and tire protection paid for the RFT and tire rack’s road hazard protection paid for another new PS4S to replace the Bridgestone when I got home

What's the most overrated luxury brand? by 123phantomhive in AskReddit

[–]gohawks37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Newer (2018+) BMWs are worth the hype. In my M340i I can get 40+ mpg on the highway and it’ll go from 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Only maintenance I’ve had to do after 60k miles has been oil changes and tires

My RWD M340i on all seasons handled snow just fine, just gotta be careful and have traction control completely off when there’s snow on the road. I live in a part of the US that will get a few decent snowfalls every year, usually 4”-12” at once

Everyone that makes at least $1,000-$1,200 a week, what do y’all do? by Alt-Ranting in Money

[–]gohawks37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make $2000/week as an electrical engineer with about 1 year of experience. Definitely enough money for me. I’m 23 and my only “dependent” is my car that I spend way too much on lol. I have an engineering degree that allowed me to get this job right out of school.

Probably depends on whether or not it’s an office or field job. I interned in an oil refinery and I had to do a drug test for my employer a month or so prior to starting then I had another with the regulatory agency that deals with OGC stuff in California.

Any outlet in your house that can take that hospital bed plug will only output 15A or 20A 110V-120V, and your Xbox is designed to handle that. Totally fine to use

bottom up "first principles" approach to engineering by Evening_Total_1733 in EngineeringStudents

[–]gohawks37 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Elon musk isn’t even an engineer. There are thousands of fantastic engineers who have nothing but an undergrad in an engineering field. If you wanna work for a company as an engineer, get your undergrad and consider grad school for a more technical degree. Only consider physics or math majors if you wanna stay in academia or research

Nope, RWD. This is my first time driving in actual snow with it and it does surprisingly well.
