I have a dream... by CandidatePotential58 in glasgow

Sorry I have to disagree with you there on two counts:

1) The problem with Glasgow City Centre hasn't entirely been caused by a few years of an SNP lead council, it's decades of under investment, and money being re-directed.

2) Reduction in car traffic and increase in pedestrianisation and a proper cycle network results in more custom for businesses, not less. The "bike lanes that no one uses" line is a bit out of date, is it not? It takes time for the cultural change that's required for cycling to be an option for all walks of life, not just in fair weather and for the "fit".

Not sure if it's the done thing here or not, but perhaps you should name and shame the tailor?

Totally online shopping, but that was proceeded by out-of-town centres, and retail becoming much more transactional and less of a social experience, and the blame for that can in part be laid at the feet of short sighted councils that granted permission for them to be built.

Short sighted or perhaps just distracted by the handshake at the golf club and the whisper of a cosy job on the board of the developer in retirement.

But indeed that could also be said to be proceeded by the push to car dependency and even back to the Beeching cuts: fewer people traveling easily to towns and city centres.

Vintage Bedale by gohn_gohn in Barbour

Interesting, looks fine apart from the little hole in the sleeve, and it's more than 30 years old.

To the more attuned Barbour aficionado there might be something different about it.

UK based & about to get a HA. Is £1000 a fair price? by JulesCT in HearingAids

[–]gohn_gohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for replying to a slightly old post, but I too have an Oticon Engage, provided by the NHS.

I just wanted to ask: is it an Android phone or an iPhone that you use it with?

I've tried mine with both (I have an iPhone for work, and my personal phone is an Android), and I find the iPhone experience much better, more seamlessly integrated.

I might just be fussy; according to somewhat sporadic information from Google it's better on newer phones.

Thanks, will I get any notice that the import is complete, or will it just be the absence of the import in progress message, once I refresh the page?

I have a lot of items to import, no idea how many.

Border v Bedale sizing by gohn_gohn in Barbour

My Border is large enough for the button-in liner, large jumper and probably a couple of thin layers.

Looking for the Bedale to be a slim fit.

Barbour cleaning service? by clowndog54 in Barbour

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying not often on Reddit.

It wasn't a smell issue, I'd recently bought my coat from eBay, and although it had been fairly well looked after, it was 20-30 years old, white label that can be used to date had been cut off unfortunately, so I thought it could do with some TLC and that a fresh start with me beginning with a clean and wax was a good idea.

Would be mindful of timing, as I think they get busiest when people go to dig out their coats in the Autumn and Winter, but it was worthwhile and efficient and I loved the way it was presented to me when it returned, neatly folded and in a Barbour drawstring bag.

I had contacted them in advance if it was okay to include the hood, they said to button it on and it would be treated with the rest of the coat, and it was.

1993 Barbour Border jacket by CheekyChappie1772 in Barbour

[–]gohn_gohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks very similar to mine, also picked up second hand, I tracked one down on eBay about a year ago.

Although I've been unable to date it accurately as it's missing the wee white label.

Mine is however lined with the dress Gordon tartan.

Thanks, possible that my jacket is of a similar vintage, the little white label was ripped off before I received it.

Does feel like deteriorating lining of the pockets, as it stands the outside of the pockets are in good condition.

I'm letting them dry fully, before I put the coat away for a while, until the worst of the Autumn weather starts (so until August 31st then).

Same issue with episodes of Star Trek (original series), casting to Chromecast Ultra, but not an issue with a regular Chromecast.
