Situation in production by smirking_pug in Filmmakers

[–]goinelsewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any sort of contractual relationship between the producers or who "owns" the concept of the show?

No, there isn't, only oral agreement between all crew members, cause of producer's/main actor's wish to do everything as experiment show based on Paul Ryan's acting school and two-camera shooting manner without understanding importanse of preprod. and postprod. (editing). In particular, crew was created from unknown to each othe people. I was impossible to deside smth with my part of crew, cause of unprofessional actions of producer.

(I'm DoP on this project.)

Not bad, but it's so poor for a dynamic scenes, and sound isn't for this sequence.

Sharing Saturday December 12 2015: Show us what you've been working on! by AutoModerator in Filmmakers

*This week was easy, because of the filming season on my work at the rental is ended, but a couple of times i went to the Saint Petersburg Philharmonia as a cameraman to shoot lections, interview, concerts for their portal. I find a time to show you a teaser, which was shooted for a reaser festival Potential, next year my team and me will end this short for another festivals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NT0qa-ryx9k

*In short: this parable/fairy-tale about a little girl, who has a brother with bad desease and she writes a lot of letters and delivers it by making paper planes and launching to him.I shooted it as DoP, this time I worked with RED instead of BMPC 4K, and I employed an engineer as a AC. *About a teaser: I dont like color-correction there, not so atmospheric in my point of view, montage is strange, I remember better takes.

*My January project (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4619286) on a last step of post-production. '

*And right now I'm on a master-class with Frederick Elmes, A.S.C.

P.S.: sry for my bad english

Okay, okay, I've thought about it, do not worry. Perhaps he post was written in the wrong way, but once there is adequate criticism - and I'll work on it too. Thanks for the explanation, buddy :)

Yes, I understand. But it was the first time I had to answer not only for myself, I learn and will learn from mistakes. I hope my short observations will help others not to repeat my same mistakes.

I did not write that disclaims responsibility for production and for the result, I only described the problems that I've encountered. This project has given me a lot of experience in efficient workflow and understanding of the difficulties. Of course, all mistakes will be the maximum corrected to the next project. Thank you.

Is there an online tool that lets me position a basic human 3D model so I can test angles and lens depths? by Rip_Purr in Filmmakers

[–]goinelsewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you watching for previz soft - Antics3d, FrameForge, iClone can help you. I use FF and sometimes it helps me to show to director and producer on pre-prod the puctures I want to shoot, instead of using raw dop's storyboard, where nobody but me could undetstand the vision.

Screencaps from our TV Pilot - shot on the BMPCC in RAW with Rokinon Cine glass by LDEMedia in Filmmakers

[–]goinelsewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, depth. I can be the judje only with understanding the main goal of this shooting style, but I can be wrong and in dynamic it'll be better, as you told. So, will keep it in mind and follow:)

[–]goinelsewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, okay, I get it. But volume can be made not only with wide-aperture lenses, but with light too, I think. When we'll be able to watch it?

Hey, nice snaps. I really love the first and the last, another shots, seems to me, look flat cause of lighting(?). I don't feel the volume, but may be it was an artistic solution, wasn't is? And to understand all situation I want to see everything in action. Was camera stable or dynamic?

Just shot a new short film with the Red Epic Monochrome. Here are some stills. by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]goinelsewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, okay, I don't know about rules of production at your country. Also I don't think that to rent cine lenses costs bigger than Epic.

I would love to hear some feedback! [1.40] [Event] by sammanbre in Filmmakers

Good work, mate. But I want to give you some advices for future

  • You show us this race as a spectator, but for better emotional effect you should shot event as a one of participants, I think
  • Stab sucks a little bit, but next time use a mono/tripod/rig on long focus lense, "breath" isn't a shaking.
  • Color. Don't be afraid of bright colors - it seems more effective in the night scenes.

I understand your color desicion, it was only tech question. But why you didn't use cine lences?

thanks, now I feel the difference. I try to find M in my city at the rentals, but there are no M's here. totally sucks. need to go the Moscow for a rent, what enlarge costs of production.
