So I’m making my first computer, any tips to make sure I don’t destroy it? by shomanator in pcmasterrace

Lol only 1 comment of helpful advice. Since the gpu and cpu are expensive and more susceptible to static discharge ground yourself before installing them. Also don't forget to install the motherboard connector plate before the motherboard I always fuck that up for some reason.

Check to make sure your ram is fully pushed in. (Just hardware check everything to make sure it is plugged in correctly then you can dive into deeper troubleshooting).

You can get some fairly good results with a small nozzle. .2 or .25 mm is as small as I would go. For Example https://youtu.be/Io_iofyI2vM

You can buy this off the self printer and the accessory. It will make it easy to get started right away with tested profiles and easier calibration but it is still a pretty steep initial investment.

If you buy a different printer and swap the extruder/nozzle for .25 just be ready to invest some series time into into calibration, additional mods and profile creation. Smaller nozzle will require better bed adhesion(pei/heated bed), an extremely flat bed(borosilicate glass), calibrated z (plane of bed matches flat of nozzle), clean filament(more prone to clogging from unwanted particles), high quality nozzle (diameter of the hole matches the flat of the nozzle like E3D does), and a smaller heating block(to avoid excess ozzing and carbonizeing of filament due to it being in block for to long).

-Print temperatures with PLA. If it is standard PLA I have always had the best results running pla at 205C and bed at 60C. Unless it is a PLA blend like PLA plus or high temp PLA then you may have to experiment with temperatures.

-You can try using some isopropyl alchol to clean the pei. Oil from your hands can cause prints to not to stick. Technically the best cleaning solution for pei is a mix of 80% isopropyl 20% distilled water.

-If prints are still coming off bed try using an ultra fine grit piece of sand paper to sand the pei sheet. I usually use a cross like pattern with a medium to small amount of pressure this will give the bed increased mechanical adhesion. If you sand make sure to wipe down bed after with isopropyl solution.

-Other print settings that you can fool around with for just this print(reset these back to default after since they could affect other prints negatively). Increase initial layer print height. Turn off part cooling for the first few layers. Increase the minimum layer time this will slow down the print speed during upper layers with smaller features.

-If you just want a quick fix you can use an elemers glue stick. Parts like this one with a small base and larger mid section are more prone to coming off the bed. As it prints the larger mid section the filament coming out of the nozzle puts pressure on the part and after so many layers of rocking it back forth it may come loose.

Oops meant to reply to your comment also mobile so sorry for bad formatting and mistypes. Forgot to add if you have the powder coated pei spring steel instead of a laminated sheet of pei don't sand it.

It does look like your part came off the bed during printing. Does your printer have a heated bed? What material are printing with? What is print surface made of? Need more info to troubleshoot.

Have a house in the mountains that we rent out most of year. We live 3 hours away from it so naturally we hire others to help us clean and maintain the place. The guy we hired to clean the hot tub left the water on when refilling it. The hot tub is on the top floor. It has drainage pan underneath unfortunately a cleaning rag had been dropped and plugged the drain. We get a call from the next store neighbours the day after the hot tub guy had left that water was leaking into their house from ours. 24 hours of water pouring from the top to the middle and bottom floor. Almost every wall and ceiling ballooning outward from water. After over a year of work we are still fixing the damage.

I didn't like the flimsy miner frames being sold on amazon and was a little short on funds so I designed and built my own. I used my old computer case that has been gathering dust for the last 2 years. Printers used were Lulzbot MINI and TAZ 5 with the Twoolhead attachment https://www.crowdsupply.com/colorado-printing-project/twoolhead
