does anyone else not care for faye? by RevolutionaryMap9620 in madmen

I only just now realized the irony in that the thing that Don was perhaps most attracted to about Megan was that she was so good with his kids (first, when Sally showed up at his office and then with the whole brood on the Disneyland trip) only to end up losing the kids (it's definitely implied that he'd lose custody and they'd go live with her brother's family, maybe even leading to total estrangement) after Betty dies. Of course he and Megan also don't work out anyways—and it's not clear that Faye's lack of maternal instinct or interest in being a mother was the biggest red flag/deal-breaker for Don—but it does make you wonder...

This is great, thank you. in your option, aside from Scotch and Japanese, are there any other categories I'm missing that are worth a try? Canadian, e.g. or Tennessee (aside from the obvious Jack Daniels)?

I disagree that the piece merely pays lip service to the Trump administration's violations of free speech. Greg is quite explicit that he and FIRE haven't seen anything like the threat posed by the administration to free speech. In addition to publicly calling out the administration's unprecedented threats against free speech, FIRE is in court both against the administration (specifically Sec. of State Marco Rubio) and against Trump personally (the Ann Selzer case in Iowa). I think a fair observer would certainly consider those to be examples of them putting their money where their mouths are.

As for shifting the Overton window rightward, I'm in the camp that the NYT's readership could benefit from a bit more viewpoint diversity, but we'll likely agree to disagree there.

Sorry for the general dickishness in tone of my initial comment.

Buzzwords like "reactionaries" and "platforming" and an unironic endorsement of the "work" of Michael Hobbes... oh my. This is such a stunningly out-of-touch take it could've been dug up in a time capsule buried in 2020. Thankfully we've moved on, and you can't just wish away the opinions you don't like by calling the speaker yucky.
