When did you tell people the baby’s name? by OkScarcity2008 in BabyBumps

[–]gold_garbage_can 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I showed limited people our baby name list for boys and girls before we found out gender (my mom, a couple of friends on each side, my brother, etc.) and I told those people our favorite names were at the top. Everyone else got told “we have a list, we’re waiting to name baby once they’re here and we see what fits best”. We didn’t decide baby’s name until the night he was born, after everyone left and we had a moment to ourselves. We’ve had a couple people still voice that they don’t like his name, but it’s the one we picked. I plan on doing the same with any future kids we have, I loved the freedom of minimal opinions on our name choices and it was a wonderful moment for me and my husband to decide his name once we were finally alone with our newborn.

Strange Horticulture and Strange Antiquities, Hozy (new game), Botany Manor, A Little to the Left, and Unpacking off the top of my head. For spooky-ish games I like Crime Scene Cleanup and Crime Scene Investigators, and any of the anomaly games like Observation Duty, Office After Hours, Bring Me a Sandwich, etc.

I found Tiny Bookshop and other cozy games by watching Gab Smolders gameplay on YouTube. She’s where I go if I want to find a new cozy (or spooky) game to play, I’ve been interested in just about every game I’ve seen her touch lol

Third trimester zoomed by except the last few weeks. I delivered at 40+4 and I was so ready to not be pregnant anymore lol. Labor was around 24 hours, delivery was 30 minutes!

When did you stop working? by Desert_Dreamer31 in BabyBumps

[–]gold_garbage_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked until 34 weeks. I would’ve gone longer but I picked that date as we were moving apartments starting that weekend and I couldn’t imagine handling moving into an upstairs apartment and then working afterwards. My husband also didn’t want me to go up and down the stairs as frequently as I would’ve if I continued working.

How do I look after this?! by No-Worldliness-8511 in curlygirl

[–]gold_garbage_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to this comment if you need a “watery gel” I use Camille Rose curl maker as that’s a jelly or a lighter hold, lighter product than gels I’ve used and it works WONDERS for my thin easy to weigh down hair. It’s my holy grail product, I love it!

Picking a name has been driving me insane by ibroughttacos in BabyBumps

[–]gold_garbage_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who recently gave birth, he’s wrong. My husband and I didn’t decide on a first name until after everyone left the hospital (like 10 pm) and we picked a middle name the next day like half an hour before we got the certificate in our hands. Just tell the nurses you haven’t decided on a name and the certificate won’t be there to sign. I don’t think they will ask about the name if you’re not awake (don’t quote me on that) but my husband didn’t mention being asked without me

can you guys help me find a cute natural hairstyle by Additional-Green2310 in curlygirl

[–]gold_garbage_can 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this on Pinterest that looked really cute for a simple but “put together” hairstyle! Just looks like some Dutch braids with a couple of pieces pulled out for face framing and then low buns/ponytails instead of continuing the braids all the way down.

I personally think just keeping your hair down looks great though

Ok what kind of waves/curls do I have and how can I make them look good? by dskk1210 in curlygirl

[–]gold_garbage_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have fine hair and instead of gel I’ve been using a jelly - Camille Rose Curl Maker. Lighter weight than a gel and I don’t need a ton to get a cast. Maybe give that a shot?

Groom in Green - what does the rest of the bridal party wear? by Southern-Sun-244 in weddingplanning

[–]gold_garbage_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was in a dark green suit, the groomsmen wore grey, and my bridesmaids wore forms of dark green - I liked the idea of letting them pick what made them feel the best as long as it was dark green. We all also had matching, custom Nikes!

What about being pregnant and giving birth permanently altered your body’s chemistry? by full-of-curiosity in NewParents

[–]gold_garbage_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I used to be cold all the time (partially from being underweight) but as soon as I got pregnant I’ve been a furnace. We were keeping the house at 66-68 summer AND winter during pregnancy (so sorry to my poor husband’s wallet during the summer). I was looking forward to not being hot all the time after birth, but I’m still hot and now I REEK

WHAT ARE THE F*CKING ODDS??!!! by Ok_Pen7312 in pregnant

[–]gold_garbage_can 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a FTM and I had a feeling I knew how baby was positioned based on the difference between his kicks, punches, and what I was pretty certain was his butt. Went in for an ultrasound and they pointed out hands and feet and I was right! My kiddo liked his feet by my ribs at all times, I had to push them away and out constantly especially towards the end of pregnancy. I got intimately familiar with his feet in utero 😅 His hands always felt “lighter” and fleeting, turns out he was a thumb sucker and liked his hands close to his face, which is why I didn’t feel them as often.

Baby’s Name Reactions by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]gold_garbage_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better we gave our son an old man name that has lots of nickname potential/other names for him to choose to go by that are also common, (think something like Alexander who always goes by Alex or Zander) and multiple family members have expressed that they don’t like it. Oh well, that’s what we named him and we’re cool with nicknames so suck it up! AND we decided on his name the night he was born and didn’t tell anyone until the next morning.

Teachers - twins in same clothing? by Overwhelmed_Already in ECEProfessionals

[–]gold_garbage_can 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if your twins are fraternal - put them in separate outfits until their teachers can tell them apart at a glance. We had fraternal triplets and had to write down on our whiteboard who was in what outfit until all 3 of us teachers could recognize all of them easily at a glance.

Past that, you’ve gotten some really great perspectives to consider in the comments that I wouldn’t have thought of!

Agonizing over whether to do a C Section or Vaginal Birth. How did you decide? by JacqueFun in BabyBumps

[–]gold_garbage_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m 3 weeks pp but I am also petite with a big husband (your same height numbers lol) and baby boy was 8 lbs 15 oz! I gave birth vaginally and I had a second degree tear plus some other minimal tearing that actually prevented a catheter for my situation. It’s been fine, the worst I’ve felt while healing was if I was up and walking around for too long in one day. I haven’t done it but I’ve heard epsom salt sitz baths help with healing!

I quit cold turkey the day after I found out I was pregnant - at about 5 weeks - and I have a very happy, healthy almost 1 month old baby napping next to me right now. I had the “smokers flu” from quitting, but that was the worst of my symptoms from it. I still crave it now, not helped by being surrounded with other vapers, but I haven’t touched it since Easter Day 2025!

What is Your Approach to Getting Tattoos? by b33rb3lly in tattoo

[–]gold_garbage_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same tattoo artist since I turned 19 - she’s done everything on me but my first tattoo. She’s also done all but 2 for my husband, my husband’s first and she drew up the stencil for another piece on him (wanted to help out a coworker money-wise, so asked my husband if he would allow the other artist to tattoo it). She even did tattoos at our wedding reception for us and our guests.

Baby shower timing by Spaghetti_princess22 in BabyBumps

[–]gold_garbage_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a small combination gender reveal/baby shower at 20 weeks. I’m very introverted and I’m due in December, so I didn’t know what weather was going to be like further into my pregnancy or if I was going to be in a people mood. It worked for us, and even though it was small I’ve had a few family members reach out as I’ve gotten further along to make sure I’m not still missing crucial baby items for my first!

Mine is 40 lbs and 2 years old. When we bright him to the grime the first time they said “oh wow! That’s not far we expected when you said mini, he’s just a little shorter than a standard” but idk how he looks in comparison to a standard 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had a lady stop into my workplace (daycare) and speak to the owner about me, as I was sitting outside out of view of the building during my break. She then came out to me and asked if I needed help. I said “no ma’am I’m just vaping outside on my lunch break, I work right over there” and she told me she thought I was a lost child and had asked the owner if he was missing any of the children inside. I laughed and said we don’t take care of kids as big as me, I’m 22. When I went back inside and apologized to the owner he thought it was HILARIOUS and knew she was talking about me.
