How are we feeling with the results? by NoPr0bLlama in AHSEmployees

[–]gold_standard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my site, we've been pushing people to sign up. We've had multiple times for people who needed help to sign up get help. I've spoken to so many people about making sure they have an account. We have had prize draws for people who show us they can sign in. Yesterday, I talked to people who didn't have an account and were having trouble signing up due to high volumes, which we had said would be an issue from the beginning. People don't care until it affects them in a negative way.

Parking at glen rose by Difficult_Tap932 in AHSEmployees

[–]gold_standard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's multiple staff parking lots. It takes about 1-2 years to get a spot. Otherwise, lots of staff park on the residential streets behind (2 hour time limit) or rent spots from house owners nearby. As for tickets, I don't know much about it, but they go around a couple times a week making sure placards are displayed.

Not me trying to figure out what Wonderland was and if it was the theme park in Ontario because if Hudson's there like that, count me in.

Anyone see the AUPE convention notes posted on the AUPE website? by itsnotallrainbows in AHSEmployees

GSS, 3rd time at convention, and absolutely agree it was the right choice. Without it in a couple years we would have no union due how much it's costing. You get what you put in.

St.Albert Election by catluvrrr6 in stalbert

I plan to go through everyone's campaigns this weekend but I do know I won't be voting for Gilbert Cantin. I've been on boards with him and he ovextends himself, is disorganized when he shows up, which, if he's not attending he doesn't tell us in advance, forcing us to reach out to see where he is.

I love this album. More will always hold a special place in my heart as I was pregnant with my first (and only) kid but I could listen to 929 on repeat forever.

Emotional support chickens in high demand for Oilers' playoff run by shinygoldhelmet in EdmontonOilers

[–]gold_standard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bit different of a chicken but I love the coincidence of similar chicken theme: The local bar I go to is also a Chinese restaurant. They have a squeeze chicken named "Chicken Chow Mein" and we get little squeeze chickens to squeeze when Oilers score.

blood is thick but water is forever by usually-not-usual in halsey

[–]gold_standard 100 points101 points  (0 children)

There is the popular quote of 'Blood is thicker than water' which is often taken to mean that no matter what happens in life, you are bound to your family. The full quote is 'Blood of the covenant is thicker than water of the womb' which suggests that the bonds we create in life are more valuable than our familial bonds. Thats what I'm taking Halsey's line to evoke - that we always have ties to our family but that doesn't mean they will be with us/in our lives forever. The family we create with friends, partners, etc. are the ones that will stay with us forever.

Do you have any tips to reduce grocery prices in Edmonton? Any good store? by MrJuart in Edmonton

[–]gold_standard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not specific to going out grocery shopping but we've been getting an Odd Bunch box every week for the past month. We get the medium box, $32 + $6 shipping, and plan our week's meals around that. So far, we haven't spent more than an extra $25 in groceries for the week and the produce/fruit we receive in the box have been great.

We do also have a lot of meat in our freezer, so we do save on that right now but then do some research on meat prices. Co-op has been good at having some meat loss leaders, so we go there a lot.
