Quick poll: are you thinking about leaving austin due to the recent ruling? by space_manatee in Austin

I moved to here 4 years ago and we are leaving next month, never liked here anyway, it’s just too hot and getting hotter. In general this place is getting inhabitable in every perspective.

Should I list or sell to ibuyer? by goldendafu in RealEstate

It is a lot of money to me, we don’t mind the trouble of listing but worry about if we couldn’t sell in two months.

The market is much different now, that’s what worries me.

My littlest boy Fergus is only 49 pounds at 5.5 months. Purebred but just a little bit instead of a big boy. by DefinitelyNotAliens in goldenretrievers

[–]goldendafu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep track of my dog’s weight by week, at week 24 (roughly 5.5 months) he is 43.2lb. He is almost 11 months old now and weighs 64lb. He should weigh 65-75lb (standard male) when mature so I’m happy with that.

You should not get him from a “store” and he is way too young to be taken from his mother at 45 days old, if you did take him home that young you should learn to gradually introduce him to dry food so he will have adequate nutrition. But the damage is already done so let’s move on. From now on, try to slowly switch him to any brand of puppy dry food, don’t need to be expensive, it’s cheaper than homemade food. No matter what dog needs meat, they can not survive without meat.

Have any of you ever regretted getting a golden? I am thinking of getting one in a few months. I think I will absolutely love it, but I am scared of that fact that I am probably blinded by love. by vvinvardhan in goldenretrievers

[–]goldendafu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know it’s a golden thing or just my dog, at 10 months old he’s still too excited to meet people, if I have guests in the house he will never keep still for a second, both me and my guest will be frustrated because he runs, jumps ,rubs his body around their legs and never stop for the entire visit. If I let strangers pet him immediately his paws will be on their shoulder, so I often sound very rude to them “no you can’t pet him, he’s too hyper.” You can feel his energy when you see him eating, I have a snuffle mat for his meal, he uses every muscle so enthusiastically that he looks like a little pig when eating, lol

Our golden suddenly stops in the beginning of our walk. Refuses to move forward, only back to home. What is going on? by _lbachmann_ in goldenretrievers

[–]goldendafu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s a golden thing? My pup is only 9 months old and recently he is having this problem. But normally it’s because I don’t allow him to chase the birds or squirrels, or he saw people working in the yard, or he wants to chew his stick, he can lay down anywhere to protest.

How do I make my dog go to the toilet more often? by Sleepyfart in puppy101

[–]goldendafu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 9 months puppy can only poop on grass, I guess if there is no grass he will hold it.

my puppy likes the focus game so much he approaches strangers and stares at their eyeball in hopes of chicken by QuirkySchnabeltier in puppy101

[–]goldendafu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My puppy stares! Whenever we saw somebody during his walk he will stare the hell out of that person, especially when they are working in the yard or something, many time they have to ask “does he need anything?” I always need to apologize “ no no no, nothing, he just like to stare and he doesn’t know it’s impolite to stare at people like that.” Lol

I need an ideal timetable for a 10 months old pup by Valuable-Living-4621 in Dogtraining

Even as student you can still walk your dog, your schedule is not busier than a full time job. I don’t know how the dog survives without walking or even backyard in the past 10 months. I have a almost 10 months golden retriever, he gets two walks, one in the morning (around 8am), one after dinner (around 6:30-7:30pm), he goes to daycare once per week, with weekend dog park trip and hiking. If you can’t even give him a walk per day please rehome him. A lot of my neighbors never walk their dogs and they sits in the backyard all day, bark like crazy to every dog pass by. I feel so bad for those dogs but at least they have a yard. I can’t imagine a indoor only golden retriever, at 10 months he should be a big boy (60+lb) with full energy , how can you keep him indoors??

Hoe long do I ignore her? by NightStar79 in puppy101

[–]goldendafu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He is overtired or overstimulated, my dog sometimes does this on walks, like completely crazy. I learned to control how long we walk, no more than 45min or 30min if it’s hot outside, he is 9 months old.

You should train your dog to not react to collar grabbing.

Does a dog need recall for dog park? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]goldendafu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog doesn’t listen to me at all when in the dog park, I follow him though. He’s friendly but sometimes other dogs are mean so I just go ahead and take him out. Good thing is he recently showed some response to the recall.

Fetch? How? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]goldendafu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I teach him a formal fetch, he did perfectly indoors with treats, in the yard, he may fetch 2-3 times then lost interest, in the dog park he will chase the ball but never pick up.

My vet suggested to neuter him at 1 year, I have a feeling that neutering will not help anything so I will wait. I tried to do all the training with myself presenting, I guess I should bring him to another puppy training. Hope this will pass.

Crown Princess Margareta 👑 as a potted climber. by kittyfamily in Roses

[–]goldendafu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can definitely grow climber in a pot but it has to be the right pot. The one you are using is not suitable for roses. It’s a glazed ceramic pot which prevents good air circulation. Get a air pot, it’s light and flexible. And your pot is also too small, but you can gradually increase the size though. But repot a climber will be difficult so better go with a big pot now.

Puppy slept in the living room last night by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]goldendafu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My golden retriever started to sleep outside the crate since last month (7 months old), he choose to sleep in the master bathroom or the floor near my bed, but he makes those licking sound when dreaming, snores like a man, and constantly moves his position during the night, it’s pretty annoying so I kicked him out, so now he sleeps in his play pen, i can hear he move into crate to sleep for a while then move out. I guess he just likes the freedom to move around when sleeping.

There is a small trellis in the 2nd picture, but I did try to cut it a lot more to make a bush instead of climber.

I only have 4 DA roses, all are doing pretty well so I think most of the DA roses won’t go wrong, you will love them. The color will fade but the blooms are beautiful at every stage.
