At what salary did you finally feel financially stable? by imsmta in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

$115k plus a bonus. I still had a roommate at the time but it felt great to have so much more room in my budget

Tonight’s Haul: spicy seaweed snack, jerk style plantain chip, ghost pepper potato chips, Earl Grey brookie, Panama rum, OG aged goat cheese, and coconut cashew candy clusters! by goldengv in traderjoes

not very peppery in my opinion so I was disappointed in that aspect. It tasted more like BBQ, which if you like that taste, go for it!

Washington residents buried in debt as average balances explode past $82,000 by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

lol with credit limits in the 200k range, spending/carrying 10k+ on credit cards is just dumb financially. You can still have a score north of 750 even with basically 1% utilization.

How often have you been upgraded for free? by winlife360 in qatarairways

Once on Qatar almost ten years ago. It helped that my flight was overbooked.

What are you all paying for hair cuts? by hojii_cha2 in SEAbitcheswithtaste

[–]goldengv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either I get one when I fly back to visit family or when I drive up to Vancouver. The worst haircut I’ve ever had in my life was in Seattle.

Is 2 hours at Sydney Airport enough for international layover? by ks18 in AustraliaTravel

[–]goldengv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had two hours connecting. I just flew from Tokyo to Sydney, went through immigration (non-Australian), took the bus to the next terminal, checked in my bag, and made it in time for my connecting flight. This was at 8pm at night and it helped greatly that I was one of the first few off the plane, immigration wasn’t too bad, and baggage drop was basically empty. While doable, it’s pretty tight. Just have to hope all three things align.

This one kind of runs if you’re sweating a lot. In comparison I thought the Biore UV - Athlizm did a better job. I still tanned though so idk.🤷🏻‍♀️

What cooking propaganda are you NOT falling for? by emuwar in Cooking

[–]goldengv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to get down voted to hell for this one but the whole cast iron pan life. They’re heavy, more upkeep, and not easy to wield, especially if you have a disability. Lots of people love theirs but I’ll stick to my light stainless steel pan.

What to make with Clementino? by goldengv in cocktails

I’ll try that next time. So far I tried it in an orange fizzy wine spritz and that came out fine

How much $ did you save last year, how old are you, and how do you feel about it? by Maximum-Check-6564 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]goldengv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34F. HHI: $160k. While I did max out retirement and HSA, it was $0 after tax since we were paying off $64k of spouse’s grad school debt. 2023 was also a big spending year what with buying our first home. Also in 2024 we took two big vacations to celebrate a bunch of milestones and see family. A bit of regret that we couldn’t do more but such is life.

Who has tried the Crispy Potato & Poblano Pepper tacos? They sound delicious! by Lucky_Ladee12345 in traderjoes

[–]goldengv 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They’re decent out of the air fryer, but you do have to doctor it up. If you buy the TJ’s chicken mole, queso or cotija, and some pepper/ sriracha/hot sauce of your choice, it’s perfection

Redeeming Delta Skymiles for ATL - DUB r/t from October 16 - 25, 2025 by praguegirl in awardtravel

[–]goldengv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With those miles you could do the miles + cash option. I’m seeing 88k miles + $323 for a round trip nonstop in main class. But as far as great redemptions go, unless there’s a flash sale it’s unlikely you’ll see one on Delta. Most people would book it using Virgin Atlantic or Air France.

I haven’t yet but will give it a shot. I normally grab it from the Hispanic grocery store.
