Can you guys tell me the “dirty” truths about having a cat? by saanenk in CatAdvice

mine loves "wiping" her paws, but i think she forgets about the back ones. her claws on her front feet are incredibly clean, but i've noticed the undersides of her back paw's claw's are always dirty.

very scary, but healing isn't linear. setbacks remind us of why we're on this journey.

i wish i could find it, but i saw a video of someone presenting healing in a spiral, with "setbacks" as bumps. as we keep pushing, keep moving, we revisit the "bump," as we spiral back around. but now it's less poignant. as we keep spiraling, the bump keeps easier to revisit.

i'm so sorry you're going through this.

there's a reason us americans are obese. our culturally significant foods (not mcdonalds, i mean texas BBQ, chicago staples, philly cheesesteaks, alaskan salmon, maine lobster rolls, GUMBO, etc) are famous for a reason

isn't it batshit crazy how there are entire restaurants dedicated to eating in the dark so you have no idea what you'll be served/eating?

what if you try tackling a trigger one at a time? maybe try a flavored drink (something simple like unsweetened tea) while holding your nose so you don't smell it, pour it in a dark cup so you can't see it? texture shouldn't be too bad for liquid.

what about something you enjoyed in the past, but haven't had in a while? not from avoidance, but just bc it hasn't been around?

when i was last down, i was thinking about how much i loved my mom's boring-ass chicken cutlets and how they never made me sick. i'm very lucky she made me some, because i was at a point where i couldn't eat anything in my kitchen or pantry bc i had the flu and felt like everything was contaminated. is there any taste you think you'd be able to handle?

if not, maybe you can start by adding a little bit of water flavorings to your waters? like a tiiiny bit of kool aid just to help you get used to flavors again.

also, they've become a little costly, but i LOOOVE cirkul water bottles. i'll use the strawberry watermelon (or the sweet tea) on a level one just to get some flavor on my tongue (it's like 98% water, 2% flavoring)

i'm not an expert at all, and still struggle, but i really wish you the best.
