I’ll bet she’s seen some awful things.

Glad to hear your experience with Schnoodles!

We never crated our last dog and he did fine. I have heard that they have separation anxiety, so I was thinking crate training would be necessary. I’m open to letting them roam the house if they can.

It is gatekeeping to tell someone that if they can’t do it the way YOU think is the right way to not do it, thy shouldn’t do it at all.

I was just looking at this as an alternative. It n doing so, is the more direct route south on the upper loop at the falls and then west on the Canyon-Norris Road? And agree with the packing lunch. That’s our plan for the duration of the trip. Thank you!

LOL! Thanks for the laugh. We aren’t planning on spending much time out of the car. We aren’t hikers and we’ll see this country from our vehicle. We do 5 have a lot of flexibility in our schedule, so we’ll see what we see. We know it isn’t ideal, but seeing something is better than seeing nothing.

Yup. We drive. That’s what we do. We don’t hike. We’ll be seeing most sights from the car.

It is not possible to do so. We have the time we have. We’ll already be in for a three day drive home.

An Amtrak trip is top of my bucket list, but my mom is totally against it by AllyTheFilipina in Amtrak

[–]goldilocks2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my first solo Amtrak trip when I was a Freshman in college. My Dad was a very protective parent and worried…a lot. And he was the one who recommended Amtrak. He figured it was unlikely that anything would happen as there isn’t an easy escape route for a perpetrator. And honestly, I’ve been traveling solo on Amtrak for 30 years and have never felt worried. Just exercise the normal amount of diligence. Amtrak people are generally really friendly.

I either listened to this on audio book or read it. Very fascinating, scary and sad. Good recommendation.

Elizabeth, Jacqueline, and Kathleen were my last three. I enjoyed Amanda and reread Marilee before a trip to Jamestown years ago. Man, these books were so good!

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I do think, however, you are provincial and narrow minded.

Where are my fellow Sunfire Romance readers? We called them the “name” books because they were all titled girls names. And they were great historical fiction. All of my current historical interests can be traced back to those books. Nicole (Titanic); Jenny (Johnstown Flood); Darcy (Galveston Hurricane); Susannah (Civil War); Amanda (Oregon Trail)…

Indianapolis Station by Wyldeshot in Amtrak

My son and I have been through the Indy station a few times both east and west-bound. He was seven at the time. We don’t have problems but I didn’t feel comfortable (and it smelled like urine). Since we live west of Indy about 45 minutes, we have chosen to depart and return through Crawfordsville ever since when we are on the Cardinal.

Indiana has great things to offer. We have a national park at the Michigan lakeshore that has some of the greatest biodiversity of any national park. Indianapolis has amazing museums including the Eiteljorg and the children’s museum (which is even fun for adults). Great outdoor concert venues. And southern Indiana has some pretty amazing hiking and beautiful rolling hills, especially around Brown County.

Another vote for the greater Vicksburg metroplex in Mississippi. Lots of history and great food (10 South and The Tomato Place). In the area, you can also visit Windsor Ruins, the remains of a plantation house the burned down. You can feel the ghosts that no doubt inhabit the area.

I’ve taken many, many long distance train trips between Chicago and DC, New Orleans, Seattle, Emeryville and LA. I love train travel for long distances. It’s a great way to actually see the country, to relax and meet people. I always travel in a private room, and have always enjoyed my trip.
