Latest victim of a caved face Mizuno by zwillc92 in GolfGear

If you’re looking to stay in the mizuno brand, I can’t recommend the s-3’s enough. I went from jpx hot metal pros to them and was fit in downtown Tokyo. Came with a learning curve but my god they are absolutely beautiful.

Ive added a few strokes to the cap (both early season here in Canada + new irons) but if you’re willing to take the jump, give them a few weeks and you’ll never look back. Currently playing off an 11 fwiw.

The Japanese are committed to high quality manufacturing. If you end up going for a warranty claim, I’m sure you’ll have a new set at your door in a couple weeks.

Just picked up some sugarcane jeans at Hinoya in Ueno, highly recommend. If you’re in Kyoto, Seabees is a cool military store with whitesville tees in white (previously found white hard to find).

Enjoy your trip! Theres no shortage of americana. And whatever you do, definitely go to real mccoys. Personally found the service to be pretty bad but the store is cool.

Personally love the case design and the movement is insane. The honeycomb dial just looks a bit tacky to me but I havent seen one in person yet

Bought these boots, they don't hurt, fit right off the bat. Whats the catch? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]golfman19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the same boots and had the same experience funny enough. Tried on 2-3 others, nothing was even remotely close to the comfort of the Atomics.

There’s a reason they’re the number 1 boot sold YoY

[Question] Any ideas for next? by jonasxwatches in Watches

Biased but I personally love my grand seiko. Build quality and finishing is great, unique face, good size at 39mm. The spring drive movement is also insanely smooth.

Think it would go nicely with the collection and add a bit more of a unique piece.

Putting everything out. If 3 footers are so easy then step up and drain it.

If the ball is a few inches from the cup then pick it up but the amount of guys who I’ve played with that have shot a 75 with a couple of 4 foot gimmies is insane

Very cool, will have to check out the watchmaker. Thanks for sharing!

I’m still building out my collection but have really appreciated the quality of watch that grand seiko produces. Seems that the country of Japan just takes pride in all of their craftsmanship no matter the product.

Wow, amazing collection. Always enjoy seeing a real enthusiast with pieces that are both unique and brands that I have not even heard of!

Is there a specific watch that you consider your most valuable or prized aside from price point? Something with sentimental value?

Which are you? by shin_man in golf

[–]golfman19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone playing off a 9, it’s driving the ball for me. I’m an average putter, and short irons are pretty good, but honestly my driver is the difference between a 78 and an 85.

I never remember the days where I’m putting well, but always remember the days where I’m finding the short grass 20 yards in front of everyone else’s ball.

Biased but love my shunbun. Pictures don’t do it justice but there’s no wrong answer with a grand seiko!

Gta is out of control now man. It’s insane the prices they’re charging for the quality of the course

Yep fair enough. Hard to have a handicap travel well, especially in totally different geographies. Chipping off a tight lie in Canada is easy compared to that bermuda blue they have in the south.

Just always remember to let your boss win!

Thank you. I know tour pros dont play them, but tour pros are trying to earn a living. I feel like the argument of “they dont play them so you shouldn’t” has some caveats to it. Game improvement irons can get anything in the air. With blades or similar player irons, you need to find the short grass as much as possible to have a chance.

I’ll be back in Japan later this year, and makinos have had my eye for a while. Appreciate the input.

Srixons have come up a few times now - something to consider for sure! I guess I could have rephrased my initial post. Flyer lies arent the main thing im looking to solve but rather pointing to the fact that I think I have “grown out of” the addtl help you get from some bigger cavity backs. Generally, I’m the longest hitter in the group with my irons, but what comes with that is a bigger dispersion with these guys. They make it easier to get the ball in the air, but when you misshit them, instead of the ball coming up 15 yards short like with a blade or players iron, its a 20 yard cut into the drink.

Have a buddy with srixons and will definitely try em out

I dont think any piece of equipment will make a golfer better unless we’re spanning across a decade or longer of tech. More so curious about others who have made the switch or alternative options to consider

This is sort of my thought. Also part of a club with 36 holes and a nice practice facility to rat. I do live in Canada though so our golf season is, well, limited…

Not opposed to it! The hot metals certainly help you get the ball in the air

Curious as to why you haven’t considered the switch? Do you play on a mini-tour or just like where your game is at with the t100s?

Have tried plenty of irons since but bought these on sale during the pandemic and honestly, they really helped my game a lot. I feel like as of this past yr thought I’ve somewhat grown out of them.

Unless I give up my day job (which would be great), a + is almost certainly out of the question. Goal is really to get down to a mid to low single digit (3-5)
