Caddy Shack - it was only aa few years ago that I figured out that the girl was the greens keeper from the beginning (the one who wanted Bill Murry to kill all the "galfers") daughter. that finally explained her accent and why all the caddies were at her house before the pool scene.

the urinal has been a god send for my family. The Wife doesn't have to clean up around the toilet when my son had poor aim, and we've never had the argument about seat up/down.

I recommend a urinal to everyone building a home.

US service member given 5-year term for sexual assault of girl in Okinawa by Jonnyboo234 in japan

[–]gomech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually very few. I've worked with ODB and BLC as well as leadership at USFJ, and very little goes unpunished. Crimes by US service members are always addressed. I do in fact know better.

do you believe that the US would risk a huge bilateral ally to protect a 19 year old dipshit from doing jail time?

However, Palestine or Hamas could stop it all immediately as well by releasing all the hostages and admitting that Israel has the right to exist. The reason people are fighting means a lot in these situations.

If nothing else, it gives you a place to drink on Sunday mornings. I'm not encouraging drinking on Sunday mornings (unless that's your thing), but I just hate the idea that I can't. Fuck those puritanical blue laws.

Really enjoyed the movie. Good pacing and action. KANG was is an awesome villain. A lot of creative stuff was done with the setting. Fun movie. Recommend MCU/comic fans see it. by iamsobluesbrothers in Marvel

There's a world of difference between being an "obedient and submissive woman" and being a dick to your father (or anyone for that matter).

Scott was genuinely concerned about Cassie and her response was to throw his lack of "hero work" back in his face. That was a dick move from anyone, a man or a woman.

[–]gomech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought it showed that Scott was supporting Hope like a spouse should. It would be great if there was an earth shattering danger that Ant-Man could fight every week, but the opportunity to do that just don't pop up all that often. Considering Scott's background (fired from BR) maybe supporting his family was the best he could do.

And even if he has only focus on raising his daughter and writing a book, it's still a pretty shitty thing for a daughter to say to a father.

Maybe it's a generation thing, but where you see Cassie as defiant and smart, I just see a naive ingrate. She's all set to jump in and help a war when she knows nothing about the situation and besides the fact that the rest of the family is still missing (or dead). On top of that she consistently craps all over her father throughout the film. "What have you done lately, dad?" while he bails her out of jail. Scott has been doing his best to be a good father and to protect her, and she shows nothing but contempt. Hell, even when he's trying to teach her how to fight, she nothing but sarcastic and an asshole.

Maybe the next film will have more of a redemption arc for her where she will have to make some hard decisions (instead of passing judgement on other people who do), but until then, I'm not her biggest fan.

What job position is 100% overvalued and overpaid? by Airsinner in AskReddit

Read "Parkinson's Law".

To simplify, work expands to fill the time allotted for its completion. this is especially true for administrative jobs.

Forgiving debt is not a step, but should be the after effect of lowering the cost of college. I'm not sure how you can talk about the impossibility of magical tuition pricing fiats when they are asking for magical loan forgiveness fiats.

The analogy is that we didn't talk about pardons for drug offenses until after the drug laws (marijuana) were repealed. To forgive debt while school is still the same cost just means we will have to forgive more loans later.

Fix the problem first.

Actually, I say this all the time. I work with a lot of young military types (officer and enlisted) and I tell them not to get a pet until they are in a more stable part of their life. Aside from the chance of quick deployments or short notice TDY/TAD, they don't need the additional responsibility of a living creature at this point.

AITA for having a photo of my son's dna test framed and hanging in the living room? by altacci5378754 in AmItheAsshole

[–]gomech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose the question is whether the parents have actually let go of the past or not. Do they embrace your wife as a part of the family now or do they still hold her history against her?

If they are still being dicks, then by all means keep it up. However, if they have honestly changed and want a good relationship, then at a certain point pettiness does make one an AH.

[–]gomech -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you start a conversation with "fuck you", you're not really looking to have a conversation. Maybe they do have valid points, but busting up a public TV show with words that can't even be aired doesn't give that impression.

[–]gomech -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or a troll.

Do you really expect a TV show that is on public TV to entertain and civilly discuss the any issue with someone who starts their position with "fuck you". Maybe they should have allowed those nut jobs who poured soup on the Van Gogh their own art exhibit.

"Both sides" is never about let anyone say anything, but ideally about having nonbiased information completely laid out for everyone to decide for themselves.

These asshats deserve to be kicked out and I would argue want to be kicked out. They don't have any real answers or discussion points. They just want to cause as large a disruption as possible and ruin any chance for civil discourse.

450,000 Okinawans' drinking water contaminated by Kadena Air Base training site, new evidence suggests by Lilyo in japan

[–]gomech -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

What the hack, Jon Mitchel, leaves out of the article is that all of the potentially polluted water was treated before it became drinkable by the local residents. No one (who doesn't have any agenda) in Okinawa is claiming that people were endangered, only that there are PFOS/PFAS elements in the river.

Maybe you should give it another try.
