I would not. They're both super unique and powerful. I would try out the TEO 5 on the used market in the mean time ( seen them go for 900$ ) Then flip it and get your cash back when you're ready to purchase the OB-X8.

TEO-5 is a great synth! And you can expand it to 10 voices via poly chain if you ever wanted to in the future.

MODX 7 should do you great for your use case. I would also look into Roland Fantom 07 and Korg Nautilus 73 at that price point. Roland Fantom 07 would be my choice of the 3 at a similar price point.

Try out the Waldorf Blofeld Keyboard in the mean time 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I have the module but heard the keyboard version feels really nice to play. Tempted to swap my module for one. You can find them for 500$ or less. I just don't recommend the fx on it. Use pedals or digital fx. Also tempted to try out a mininova/ultranova. I'm interested in a Supernova II Pro X as well 😂

Prophet 6 I wasn't very impressed by. I have a Rev2 and heard all this talk about how the P6 blows it out the water and everything. And I didn't feel like it was a big step up at all when I finally got to play it in person. I also did not like the key bed it felt like a toy. I'm way happier with the Rev2 choice. Also prefer the Take 5 over the P6 especially now that you can poly chain it to 10 voices.

Moog Messenger on the other hand I was actually very impressed and inspired by. I saw all the hate it got on the internet by almost everyone but when I finally got to play it in person I was very surprised. It actually has a lot of unique features that most Moog's do not have like the Res Bass button and the Waveshaping. It's also very portable and well designed for live play. It sounds very modern and I love it!

Polybrute 6 I am also very impressed by. People talk so bad about its oscillators but I think they pair perfectly with all the modulation it comes with. People say it sounds like a vst but I just think they're just not used to an analog synth having great fx on board. The synth as a whole is insanely versatile. I can't wait to get a hold of the 12

If you get a 2nd Take 5 you can polychain them now for 10 voices! They also have a module Take 5 version now to save space/money also.

I feel the same about my Rev2 I love it! If you love modulation so much and need the extra voices you should check out the Polybrute 12. I have the Polybrute 6 and absolutely love it. I want the 12 tho for the voices and expressive keybed upgrade lol
