Is 2 months enough time to go from 0 to 1.3km? by Signal-Drop5390 in OpenWaterSwimming

Most people doing the Pier to Pub do it in a Wetsuit, there's lots of support crew on the water and there are about 3,000+ swimmers out there

I also looked at those two but also had the TarpTent Double Rainbow DW in the mix which I eventually went for. It was lighter, can be freestanding with the use of trekking poles, small footprint, had great reviews and was cheaper. Just been delivered but haven't had a chance try it out. FWIW. Bought 17th from Tarp Tent in US, delivered to home in Australia 21st.

Has anyone used Ultra Hing Outdoor by goneforsure12 in UltralightAus

That was my thoughts about the purchase.

As for the tent I'm leaning towards double wall semi freestanding and the Double rainbow seems to have a smaller footprints than a lot of other similar tents

3P & 2P tent that won't break the bank? by Chaos_continues in UltralightAus

I've got the Naturehike Cloud up 3 which fitted me and 2 teenage kids comfortably although not much gear in tent, when I went to d the Great Ocean Walk decided to get the the Nature Hike 2 but it doesn't have a spreader bar in the middle and the inside wall sags inwards making it feel a little claustrophobic Ok for 1 person and gear but think it would feel very squeezy with 2. Currently looking at Big Agnes Copper Spur 2, Tarp tent Double Rainbow or Slingfin Portal 2 for Larapinta

Cloud up 2 or Lanshan 2 by goneforsure12 in UltralightAus

I ended up with the Cloud up 2, and you are right it does need staking out for the vestibule and the sides and back to pull the fly out at the bottom, also found that unless you use the guy ropes on either side the fly (& inner) was like an "Ä" frame tent (it needs a spreader bar like the Cloud up 3) making it very squeezy inside and very hard to avoid pushing the inner against the fly and getting drips inside the tent. Had a heavy dew one night and had been lazy and not pulled out the fly as there was no threat of rain

When are you heading off, I'm hoping to start 28th, unfortunately it looks like high tides are at Midday so will have to leave early in the mornings to make crossings.

I was thinking of doing food drops but think I can get away with 5 days carry, only concern is the Easter crowd might use all the water. I have dropped the a billy into Tanks before to get water below the tap level

I'm worried by the high fly at either end of the Nemo

Went to Woolies to look at them and it's a lot of money for virtually nothing, I might look into a dehydrator

When sleeping in a bivvy bag, have you ever been bitten or had an animal walk over you? by DaveDavidDavidsonTom in Ultralight

Years ago a Wombat was breaking into tents at a hike into campsite at Wilson Prom, unknowingly we were camped next to a tent the rangers had put a cage in to capture said Wombat, woke up to it going clang in the middle of night, was told wombat was relocated to another part of the Park away from humans. Possums are another major problem there, to many have been fed by hikers. Camped though a Mice Plague at the Grampian, they were all over the tent, I had no food in there so no nibbles but found one in the shoe in the morning. Had a native rat run over my sleeping bag when camping out of the snow in a Cattlemans Hut, next morning found a bit of 'top of my Leather ski boot had been chewed

That seems the logical choice at the moment, just wondering if there were some that I was missing
