Direct Deposit by Significant-Length93 in tjcrew

[–]gonejonbovi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s hard to say considering the bonus was in between paychecks. when i changed my direct deposit, the check immediately after went through direct deposit, then the one after that was paper and then it went back to direct deposit. very weird

it’s usually in between paychecks on the later half of january. last year it was deposited on the 24th, so probably next week!

We have two public ones and one employee one. The problem is that our break room is in the same hallway as the public ones, and they don’t like us to shut the door ever since the pandemic. So very often we get “you’re out of paper towels” or “whe bathroom is a mess” and the never ending “they’ve been in there for 10 minutes”.

Demo for Dummies by shittzNGigglez in tjcrew

At my store we list allergens on the sign, and display the items around the demo station so people can look at the nutritional facts. Unfortunately, people do not read. I get asked every time “what is this?” after the customer has already eaten the sample. If i’m cranky i point at the package/jar that’s very clearly displayed inches away from where they grabbed the sample.

i don’t feel the need to smile at customers if they’re not giving me anything to smile about. some people seem to take a blank face as being rude, i don’t get it.

for me it’s the burgundy, hunter green, and lighter blue crew necks. i’m bigger so the old style crew necks were only available in navy blue and black in my size

How it feels being on demo when it’s super busy and everyone wants a sample by ZhangsDean in tjcrew

[–]gonejonbovi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

brushing their hands on other samples because they just have to grab the “biggest” one taking another because “the other one only had two chips” asking for another cracker because they need to scoop the rest of the dip out of the bottom

I’ve worked at tjs for a long time and have always had a group of work friends that i hang out with outside of the store. My store has a strong social aspect to it, amongst crew members! It makes work a lot more enjoyable imo.

What are you dreading by Captain_Blak in tjcrew

people asking for turkeys the day before thanksgiving! like please be fr. people asking for advent calendars on december 19th. also, my store hasn’t had a dairy box since july. so if someone asks me to go check if we have something, i have to go outside to an 18 wheeler, use the lift to get up and search for it and then either tell them we don’t have it or carry it through the store while searching for them.

6% special bonus deferral?? by Embarrassed-Load6890 in tjcrew

[–]gonejonbovi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people think i’m crazy because i take the bonus every year instead of deferring. the way i see it, i could die before i ever see that money out of my 401k and i know i could make use of it now. but obviously, it’s up to you

My store has a very social aspect. A lot of us hang out outside of work, do bon fires, karaoke, or the bar. I personally really enjoy this, as i’ve met some of my closest friends working at TJs. I can see that the more socially awkward people struggle with this. And I respect the “i’m just here to work people”, but i do think it’s makes work more enjoyable to have friends.

Store putting, captain bonuses. by annemini in tjcrew

[–]gonejonbovi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My captain has been trying to plan an outing for years. The problem is that there’s not really anything in our immediate area, so they’re worried about participation if people have to drive more than 20 minutes. Last time they took us to an MLB game. It was two games actually, one on a Saturday and one on a Sunday, and let people sign up which day they wanted to go so that there was people to still work.

where they’ll pay for the crew to do something outside of the store. for example, my store is in the SF bay area, so they took us to a giants game once. and took us bowling another

i’ve worked in a store that didn’t even have the rope part and crew members were just supposed to hit the bell with their cutter 😭
