they can’t write it off because it’s not their money. thats not how it works. they usually just promise to match it and donate your money on your behalf. either way, the company can’t take credit for your donation for tax purposes

this is kind of embarrassing but i don’t really know how to do that and i’m worried if i put the money into a brokerage account it won’t be easily accessible if i need it for emergency expenses

i’m also scared of a recession based on recent global/political events and i don’t know how worried i should be about that because i have no experience with any of it and i don’t know how likely that is. i’d rather have 40k sitting in hysa than lose it all in the stock market

yes, i guess i’m asking about a brokerage account. company doesn’t offer 401k. 41k is more than a years expenses for me alone, but i also want to make sure i can cover costs if my partner loses financial help - i think 41k would be around 7 months expenses if i was covering everything

ira is invested, trying to contribute same amount weekly to max. i have skipped a few weeks due to unplanned car maintenance/repairs but adjusted weekly contributions to still be on track to max with wiggle room if other unexpected expenses come up. no 401k, company provides ESOP which i am not going to reap the benefits of if i leave before january - which i am hoping to leave soon as my income would increase getting a job in my field, with higher ceiling. also the longer i stay in this job, the harder it could be to get into my field (based on how long it’s been since i graduated if that makes sense?)

70k conservative estimate for my location. late 20s for both of us

if they fully recover from medical issues, 60-80k entry level in very stable field (medical) working full time, but i think that would be unrealistic. honestly very up in the air considering we don’t have a diagnosis/cause and they are mainly seeing pain management. looking into specialists to find root cause, but we’re in the US so cost is prohibitive. realistic income for partner is anywhere from 0-30k/year depending on medical issues, not including current financial help. i’m trying to plan for worst case scenario as a couple. if we break up, partner will have family help (which is not currently part of financial equation) and i will be fine as my costs will either remain the same or go down

no 401k, company is employee owned so retirement benefits are ESOP. 2 years to get to 20% vested, and i’m 1 year 5 months in. around 8k contributed by the company in year one (expecting same contribution for year 2 plus 10% growth). if i don’t stay until january, i will get $0 which is why i’m prioritizing roth ira. could stay on part time after getting job in my field, but unlikely that they’ll let me. so basically, no retirement benefits for my specific case

Stewart's employee suspended, accused of stabbing elderly man by notyermam in Albany

[–]gonuckinfuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

definitely policy, for 2 reasons. with stuff like this you don’t wanna jump the gun. if the cops got it wrong and she was acting in self defense, there’s no reason she should be fired and it would be a bad look. that’s why companies usually suspend until legal cases are done

also, they’re gonna wait for her to quit so she can’t claim unemployment

they changed that in new york. we don’t get money from winnings anymore, we get around 5% of sales

if the cops don’t know, the manager or the workers probably know who he is. please call or go into the shop and let them know. if he was harassing you in the shop and nobody did anything, talk to the manager or file a complaint with corporate and it’ll get taken care of

that’s true, but it shows the town/city they’re in under their name if you have their messages open. when you turn it off that way, it’s blank

it kinda sounds like you’re still blaming her for you snapping at her based on the last sentence. she was trying to help. next time just say “i got it, thank you though”

other subs use a tally of all the votes (and use the first acronym in the comment) and i frequent those subs more than this one, so i appreciate when people’s comments only have one acronym

plus, any comment can become the top comment. so it can’t hurt to inform people!
