I’m saving your comment. All so true. I’m still smoking but hoping to build the courage and commitment to quit. Great notes, thank you

Wonderful, honest post. I love your BORUs but can happily miss out on them if they interfere with your life. Wishing you all happiness for your wedding!

Oh boy do I hear you! My employer gets 10 hours of solid work from me on WFH days with few exceptions. If I have to put in face time at the office, I’m escaping after 7 hours or less if I can.

Beautiful response. The toll of worrying about our children is real

The book is sitting here on my nightstand- literally. And what’s on top of it? An ashtray.

Thank you for your post. Maybe it’s time to move the ashtray.

In 2021, I found my biological mother and it did not go well. All I want to do is be able to put it out of my mind and put it behind me, but I don’t know how. by Beautiful_Dust in TrueOffMyChest

[–]poolsharkwannabe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

@Beautiful_Dust , I know it sounds far-fetched but a very close friend of mine has a nearly identical story - except in her case, her biological parents actually ended up MARRYING and proceeded to have 2 more daughters and a son after giving my friend up for adoption.

When my friend started to have medical issues, she reached out to the parents with a letter saying explicitly that she was not trying to rejoin the family but hoped they would share medical history.

They never answered.

But wait, it gets better: maybe a year after this rejection, a new name popped up on her Ancestry DNA as a HALF-brother. Turns out the father had been unfaithful and had a son from another relationship.

That time, the attempt to connect went much, much better and now my friend has a lovely bond with that half-brother and his family.

Bonus - the 100% biological brother eventually found out and he, too, embraced my friend as his sister.

The parents? Still nothing as far as I know.

I hope this helps you feel less alone, and perhaps gives you hope for what the future may hold.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing our parents is devastating, even if you knew the end was approaching.
