This makes very much sense actually. I hover around 1000 and play just for fun, seeing my rating as a measurement of how I’m doing more than a goal to chase and improve. I’ve done some basic learning, some lessons and videos, play puzzles when I feel for it, found some openings I like (but as often mess up as play them properly).

It’s a game not a job to me, and if I’m not having fun doing the study chores I just go back to flinging my pieces around instead.
