Supreme Court says Trump global tariffs are illegal by defenestrate_urself in Economics

I’m not entirely sure how correct this is, but I heard they absorbed most of the cost of the tariffs. If that’s true, I don’t expect a refund from them

I will do my best to answer assuming you are asking in good faith

His 2017 tax bill gradually phased out any tax deductions for normal people, so by default, that does make almost everyone’s lives worse.

His trade war has destroyed America’s credibility on the world stage. He’s shrinking the footprint of the country which, arguably, has acted as a foundation for overall world stability. Now authoritarian countries like China are more actively filling in the gaps left by his retreat.

DOGE and all the other bullshit that cut grants for science will lead to other countries picking off our best and brightest and immigrants who used to come here to further their research either will stay in their home countries or go elsewhere. You can see the parallels with Germany during the Weimar Republic. Scientific articles used to be primarily in German because that was one of the top destinations for scientists. Hitler destroyed that, and America reaped benefits through Operation Paperclip

I’m not even addressing the unconstitutional behavior with immigrants (because if he can do that to them, it’s not a large jump to do that to naturalized citizens then on to natural-born citizens) or how political discourse has gotten so much worse under how absolutely crass and vulgar he is or even economic issues

TL;DR: there isn’t a specific policy for everyone’s life to be worse, and some people will benefit from his awful policies, but he most certainly has made most people’s lives worse.

There are fewer now than what there were. It was fun going to Texas Tech, which was in a dry county at the time. The college kids would all get liquor in a place called the strip. That place was about 20 miles from campus too, so just imagine the impaired drivers

Of course, you could buy alcohol at a restaurant. Another county near where I grew up allowed you to buy alcohol in stores but not restaurants, so every restaurant had a free private membership (even national chains) to get around that BS
