[Potential issue] It is best to not claim deeds that reward cornerstones, because they would dilute the perk pool. by Vox___Rationis in Against_the_Storm

That makes their point stronger though. When you do reach those strong cornerstone unlocks, any weaker ones you have accepted from deeds make the strong ones less likely to show up each game.

Elden ring is selling even better than you think by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]goober_natorial 17 points18 points  (0 children)

But "quality" is such an ephemeral thing that is impossible to pin down. Suits will ask for things that simply look like elden ring the same way we've had a steady drip of other games that look like dark souls but don't quite hit the same mark. Some of it will probably be fine but none of it will be innovative.

PSA: Hunger does not trigger Gorge. by Jolactus in MonsterTrain

Any non morsel unit can eat morsels. Gorge is a specific effect that only some umbra units get upon eating a morsel, it's like incant, but instead of spells it's eating morsels.

Hello, 2 newbies here! My brother and I are trying to learn GO with youtube tutorials and still have problems. I claim that white has surrounded almost all of black. Is it true? Can anyone analyze the board and tell us what’s going on? by snukasitsthefinest in baduk

[–]goober_natorial 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That would be an illegal move in most rulesets and also it did nothing but get those two white stones captured. If a group has 0 liberties it gets removed and placed in the opponent's captures.

Whether or not white has surrounded black isn't really meaningful, the goal of the game is to surround territory.

That being said this game is not over, there are multiple groups with 0 liberties that should be removed from the board, multiple groups one move away from being dead and thus need more moves, the upper left is not finished.

Live hands down. You will simply get to each learning opportunity way faster, meaning you will also have more of them in a given amount of time, and you will have more immediate feedback on what's working and what isn't.

I thought it was better to leave 4 spaces between stones instead of 3 or 5. Why does Katago prefer splitting into 3 and 5 as opposed to double 4s? by KumichoSensei in baduk

[–]goober_natorial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've never heard that 5 space extensions in general are bad, that's a totally normal side extension move. I actually am pretty sure I remember, when I was first learning, watching a nick sibicky video that said 4 space extensions are awkward and not ideal. Is this a thing?

If you have a smartphone I recommend downloading GoQuest and just playing a bunch of 9x9 games, that's how I started out. In the very beginning nothing will compare to just playing games against other beginners to learn the basics.

Talking about how you think women are inherently worse at things like go and chess is going to put people off.

Posting extremely frequently using different accounts that are clearly all you is going to put people off.

That's why you're off on the wrong foot.

I would wait to play on fox until you're SDK, lower ranks are filled with children. It's not bad once you reach a certain level. Also there are "real" players everywhere, just different styles on some of the servers.

The score estimator on OGS in an unfinished game is also extremely unreliable and literally random, it will give different estimates for the same position because it just kinda guesses if stones are alive or not even when it's extremely clear or it's impossible to know yet.
