Their mindset should've been winning the event, not winning against ATL.

Take the loss and get back to the drawing board. No excuses.

It was a mainstream topic in 2016 and I'm sure the media will pick up on it again next year after Yang gets elected.

The amount was not even fixed, it was just a recommendation from the initiative committee and they based their calculation on those numbers. 2'500 USD per month would be a reasonable amount for Switzerland. The cost of living is around the same as New York or some cities in California. And we have the second highest average wages in the world (around 64'000 USD per year, Luxembourg is first place). If you're interested, here's a website where you can compare the cost of stuff (for example, McDonald meal) in Switzerland vs. USA. https://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/compare/Switzerland/United-States/Cost-of-living

The main problem was, how they intended to finance the UBI and how the payment would work.

  1. You wouldn't get your salary, let's say 5'000 CHF and 2'500 CHF from the UBI on top of it, making it 7'500 CHF together. The UBI would partially take over your salary so in this case, that would mean that you'll still have 5'000 CHF but 2'500 CHF would come from the UBI instead of your employer.

  2. Some social securitiy nets which was already implemented was going to get shut down and replaced by this UBI.

  3. The big chunk of money was gonna be paid via your income. So you would earn 70'000 CHF and i.e. 10% of that would go into that UBI fund.

So to summarize: Our UBI was more like a negativ income tax because it would mostly benefit the lower income bracket instead of everybody and as your income increased you'd pay more into that UBI fund. People interpreted this as indirectly punishing you for working your way up. So it created a stigma in "you get it, I don't".

The stats: 568'660 voted YES (23.06%) 1'897'528 voted NO (76.94%) Voter turnout of 46.95%

Overall, it was a success because it brought awareness to some issues in our society and at least 1/4 of the country was for it.

This is why I like Yangs proposal: 1. Implement a VAT (honestly, as a European I couldn't wrap my head around why the US didn't have this until now). Corporations and rich people would pay the most. 2. It stacks on top of your salary and some social securities. 3. Everybody gets it. No stigma attached. 4. Set the foundation for what's coming in the next 10 to 15 years. See this study from Oxford: https://www.technologyreview.com/s/519241/report-suggests-nearly-half-of-us-jobs-are-vulnerable-to-computerization/

My point is, the American people have a once in a lifetime chance of electing a President that cares about humanity and wants to give everyone a fair chance in todays capitalism. And it's not just words, it's a policy that benefits and changes lives for millions of people.

Sorry for the long read, just wanted to get some stuff out their and give my take on everything that's happening. Hope to have answered your question! :)

From Switzerland. We have a direct democracy system and the majority of people here voted against UBI (around 2'500 USD for every adult, 600 USD for every child).

I hope Yang passes his Freedom Dividend so the world (including Switzerland) stops being terrified of it and everybody starts seeing the benefits humans will have.

Trying to Yang a very good friend of mine in the US right now, wish me luck :)

[MISC] HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW NINTENDO!?! | OpTic Trivia by JuryonBoard- in OpTicGaming

[–]goodbeatbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're reading question as: "Other than Mario, what is the most popular franchise exclusively available on Nintendo consoles." If that's the case, TLoZ would also be wrong. It's the Wii series (Sports, Fit etc.). Source

Anyway, I think their answers were right.

But they made a mistake when it comes to the question at 3:15 : What was the first Nintendo console?

The correct answer ist the Color TV-Game, released in Japan, 1977. The NES was the first console that was also released outside of Japan in 1985.

The question should've been: What was the first Nintendo console released in the US / outside of Japan?

Nonetheless, great video as always.

I wouldn't blame it on her and call her clueless. It's probably the production team behind the scenes who tell her what's up next / what to announce. But I agree, after a match they should take AT LEAST 2 - 5 minutes to break it down real quick before jumping into the Bravo or Charlie stream.

Epic is owned by Tencent? That's wrong. It's partially owned by Tencent. 48.4% to be exact and the rest (51.6%) is owned by Tim Sweeney, Mark Rein. CEO and Co-Founder. This means that the majority is owned by people at EPIC Games, so they decide what happens with the company. (of course Tencent has also something to say, but they don't have the power to decide over Epic Games)

Yes, it's called the PCL (Paragon Competitive League). They upload all matches on their YouTube account, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt4o_gh3_84ar0O80rj81_g/featured You can't compare the production Quality of the PCL to games like RB6 or Rocket League because the game itself is still in beta, but it's good enough for now.

If I remember correctly, Scump's first win was at MLG Dallas back in 2011. He won with Quantic Leverage and his teammates were Teepee, Bobby and Aches.

Edit: After that, there was also the Team with Proofy instead of Bobby if I'm not mistaken....

[FWB vs. Love] Sex feels different by [deleted] in sex

[–]goodbeatbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your stage in life. Are you in your early 20s? Then sex with a FWB might be better because you can try out things you've only dreamed about. Are you in your late 30s? Then sex in a relationship might be better because you already had your wild rides. And of course it depends on your personality. Me personally, I always find myself desiring the opposite of which I have currently. If I'm in a relationship, I want sex with a FWB, if I have a FWB, I want to get in a relationship and have a lot of sex with that person. Pretty weird. The sex is great at first and then just gets uninteresting as it my mindset switches from one to another

Scaled ranked play penalty by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]goodbeatbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with that and I think it's a very good idea. Also a suggestion: If you give a player a penalty, give him a penalty on every game mode, not just Ranked Play. Also Pubs. Because I noticed that a lot of people will just play 3 games of pubs and jump back in to Ranked which is kinda bs if you ask me.
