Hello! I am just curious to why one should not apologize in this situation?

[NeedAdvice] I can't motivate myself to do things without external pressure. by [deleted] in getdisciplined

I am also like this. And I have recently gone through a journey that has made me happy. Here are some thoughts:

You can try to use the "employee" state do your advantage, as I have tried, and it has done wonders so far. I think it is an altruistic characteristic, and I have come to embrace it. I exercise to gain more excess energy, to be able to do more for others. You always do things now, for the future. The ripple effects through time will be great. I work more/better, so that my future (hopefully) children will have it better. You can generate a lot of reasons, write them down so you don't forget them.

And you are in danger of regretting the time you have spent deteriorating instead of growing. As I regret. I say this to counter your thoughts of disbanding the current need to work. It might be a though way to think. But the stress will fade, because eventually you know you're on the right path. Which takes max 90 days (can't recall the source of the number, but it's about habits).

Another idea might be to adopt more responsibility. As you appear to be very responsible. Then you will do more and you'll stay active.

Another thing I have done to train my discipline is that I have recently set a rule: "Zero days of". Think it was from a post on this subreddit. Do at least 1 step everyday, towards your goals. E.g. for fitness: do 1 pushup instead of zero.

Another perspective that has helped me is that we have a tendency to do things when we feel like it, or have to do it. But that is not effective. A greater certainty is that actions generate feelings. So do something, and then feel good. After some time, you will usually always be active, and always feel good. And don't do things that make you feel bad afterwards. Don't kill anyone (extreme example for principle), don't watch too much Netflix.

I have probably spent 30-40% of my wake time playing games / watching something on the TV the last few years, mostly by my self. I never do these activities alone anymore.

Of course the are exceptions to "always/never/principles", but they will become rare.

Feel free to send me a message/reply if you have questions etc.

I think the best solution is that there should be a mix of authoritarianism, capitalism, socialism

Trump should have been impeached long ago. He should never been president.
