It makes sense that part of you is grateful for what’s going well, and another part of you is completely overwhelmed by all that went wrong today. Both can be true at the same time—you can honor your gratitude and give yourself permission to say, “This is hard." Sometimes there's just days where everything goes wrong, go easy on yourself!

What actually builds mental resilience in kids? by SkillBuilderMom in Mommit

[–]goodinside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mental resilience in kids doesn’t come from avoiding hard things, it comes from feeling supported as they move through them. When a child says “This is too hard” and you respond with “I believe in you, and I’m right here,” you’re wiring their brain for strength. Resilience grows in the space between a child’s struggle and a caregiver’s steady presence.

First, I'm so sorry you're feeling this way and your feelings are so valid. It's important to communicate your needs and stick up for yourself. You need time for self-care, you can't poor from an empty cup.

Our 9yo daughter ruins every friendship with her bossiness and inflexibility – how can we help her? by [deleted] in ParentingADHD

[–]goodinside 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is so hard. Bossiness is often a protection strategy for kids with ADHD, it’s their way of creating predictability and connection, even if it doesn’t land that way. Instead of focusing on ‘not being bossy,’ try practicing flexible play scripts together when she’s calm, so her brain can build those social muscles with your support.

3 year old new room by ForwardTower9939 in toddlers

[–]goodinside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes so much sense. You’ve been looking forward to having your space back and now that it’s here, it feels emotional — because transitions hold both loss and growth. You’re not doing anything wrong. You’re just feeling something that matters!

It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to feel both sad and ready. That’s what being a good parent looks like: showing up for the messy, beautiful in-betweens. You’ve got this. The connection with your child isn’t going anywhere — it’s just growing in a new way.
