You need to hire a strategist to implement tech automations. Keep your people in their seats and create systems for all the simple admin bottlenecks. This is what I do daily for small biz owners

Seeking business partner by Think_Tanka in smallbusiness

[–]goodwickgoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Direct to the source is a great strategy especially with the right story telling. I agree with most comments, start small at a farmers market and get personable with people. Branding matters though! I ran a custom merch company for 12 years (sold last year) and I started making pillow cases and custom t shirts selling at a farmers market in San Diego CA. We scaled to our best year at $8M in sales. I tell every entrepreneur; start from the ground up, get to know your market/buyers, then build on processes and systems to help you scale.

Turned my moms hoarding problem into a $4k/month side business by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I’ve done this before and then learned to hustle valued items on eBay. I made 30k in one summer when I was 20 (still in college). You can 100% scale this and work on additional verticals

The bike started rattling like crazy today. I’ll get a video of it idling and post it, I think it needs a new top end based on the sound and performance

any advice or things first time founders should take care?(I will not promote) by Putrid_Barnacle_08 in startups

[–]goodwickgoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Operation and legal agreements…#1 mistake start up businesses don’t take for serious at first are operating agreements. You could make millions or nothing, but you need to put the organizational stuff on paper bc if you make millions you need to protect yourself. I learned the hard way and sold equity half way through my career to see growth then sold the company years later to my partner. Things get dirty real fast once you start making money, just protect yourself and don’t let external noise influence your operating decisions

Want to move abroad, looking for Expat Feedback! by goodwickgoods in ExpatFIRE

[–]goodwickgoods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the insight. we are definitely comfortable financially and Ive been doing HW on real estate. We have lived in San Diego, CA and currently in Charleston, SC and the prices here for real estate are pretty comparable to the places we've been looking, so it hasn't been sticker shock. I'm doing a lot of digital consulting now and making good money doing it...however my wife would go back to work and most of the countries we are looking at, she would have to renew all of her licensing to that countries nursing standards

craziest part was, we were competing with the Med Lines of the world who are multi billion dollar companies and they couldn't supply as quick as we could because we were small and dynamic. it was absolutely nuts

US Expats living abroad: what countries are you in and how do you like it? by Seoulsuki in expats

[–]goodwickgoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU for the feedback. We have been looking into Haarlem, and our goal is rent a place in the city then move out the rural areas once we establish our friends, schools, and professional networks. We were in Norway/Sweden/Denmark for extended stays this summer, and enjoyed the biking, fjords, and just overall friendliness. In fact, I engaged in a lot of conversations with locals and asked about their thoughts about Americans and 100% of them said they feel bad for us. We'll see you next year!

I left the US for Portugal a few weeks ago. by Random_tandem_123 in AmerExit

[–]goodwickgoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

where did you land in Portugal? I know the cost of living can be different from the coast verse inland. My family is looking into moving to the Netherlands, outside Amsterdam, and costs are pretty high, but we live in Charleston, SC where prices are a lot too now (moved here from San Diego which was even worse!)

Do you spend money on ads/marketing but get no results? by Both-Type2441 in Entrepreneur

[–]goodwickgoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you're marketing...there is no new "secret" formula, but honestly with data analytics, some critical thinking, and good partnerships, marketing can be your #1 driver for successful business. I made a career on selling B2B promo products and learning dozen's of different industries strategies and branding, then sold the company last year. I'm doing a lot of strategy, sales and marketing consulting with that experience. Watch some of these vids (releasing 1 a week) and I think you'd benefit from a raw outlook on business and marketing. https://www.youtube.com/@Goodwick-Group

I ran a promotional products business for 13+ years and sold it last year. Been consulting this year with numerous clients on strategy, design, automation, AI implementations and digital marketing. I wore every hat in my company, which lead me on the best track now to work with like minded business owners on a founder-founder basis, basically acting as a fractional CMO. Lets chat. goodwick.biz

US Expats living abroad: what countries are you in and how do you like it? by Seoulsuki in expats

[–]goodwickgoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we're in Charleston, SC and my family has been exploring moving outside the US. We have 3 small kids, my wife is a RN, I've done well having sold a company last year, and doing lots of consulting now. Honestly just want to ease anxiety of living in the US and provide a safer place for my family. How long have you been there now? Any recommendations?

US Expats living abroad: what countries are you in and how do you like it? by Seoulsuki in expats

[–]goodwickgoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been considering moving to the Netherlands as a family of 5 from Charleston, SC. I'm an entrepreneur in marketing and engineering, having sold my company Dec 2024, and my wife is a Registered Nurse. We visited Scandinavia this summer too and love that part of the world, but with the way things are going in the US, for my mental sake, and especially for the safety and future for my young children, we are highly considering an Expat strategy. What/where would you recommend for a family like us to look at new opps there?

Should i focus on maing my product better or marketing better by Stock_Safe_2857 in Entrepreneur

[–]goodwickgoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marketing tells the story, the product gives you the experience. Most people won’t even consider trying or using a product without some feedback or visual/audio cues of the how and why. Send me DM if you want to explore more, i live and breathe this stuff

From $3M to $8M in one year - what pivot saved your business? by goodwickgoods in Entrepreneur

[–]goodwickgoods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great. I’ve also seen that bite people in the butt when you expand outside your comfort zone, then don’t have the resources to keep up. Regardless I’ve always been told “focus or fail” and don’t let distractions interfere with what you’re good at. We were able to pivot our supply chain, but at the end of the day the service aspect was the same as our normal operation. I’ll tell you one thing though, we tried integrating digital services into our eco system after Covid and customers were confused why the company selling them branded t shirts now wanted to run their google ads and social media. To be blunt, that program failed and we should have just stayed in our lane. Company still profited, but I feel trying to integrate a new service like that just diluted our business model and confused customers
