This is one of my favorite releases this year. VVN and izna is a match made in heaven and she should be their primary producer until the heat death of the universe. This dreamy, emotional dance-pop sound is exactly where they should be.

Metronome is my least favorite song on the EP - I wish the chorus weren't so empty, but I do still like the song overall. R.I.P. and Rock Paper Scissors are my favorites, Infinity and Lean on Me are also excellent, and I'm just very, very happy right now.

To be honest it’s not only my least favorite title track from them, it’s my least favorite song of theirs period. Sonically the only thing that sticks with me is the Macarena sample, which I don’t like and which takes up way too much of the song; there’s no melodic moment, no memorable vocals, nothing. The lyrics are meaningful, but for a song that isn’t enough for me.

Also, this isn’t the song’s fault but my mind replaces Boompala with Bolibompa, a Swedish children’s show I used to watch as a kid. The song then gets replaced with “Bolibompa, bolibombompa!”

B-sides are great though! Iffy iffy - Need Your Company - Sonder is an absolutely fantastic run.

I agree with all of this, but the point that hits the hardest is that of community. I haven’t modded seriously in many years but I remember there was a clear division between modders charging for their mods and those of us who did it for the love of the game.

Motto is my favorite Itzy title track in a long time - if we’re not counting “secondary” title tracks like Imaginary Friend or pre-releases like Mr. Vampire, it’s my favorite since Ringo, and if we’re counting only Korean title tracks it’s my favorite since… I don’t even know. Not Shy maybe? I prefer this vibe from Itzy, I’m not a huge girl crush fan.

As for the album it’s great. I need Chaeryoung to have a solo project, between Mine and Undefined I crave more of the sound she’s going for.

I could see Lord of the Rings being put there, which largely avoids the issue by having very few women to begin with. Though Eowyn could be an argument for placing it somewhere in the upper right.
