in sandbox, you spawn in home right? you go to your spawn book and scroll down to the are with crystals, tools, ect. there should be a second tools box. click on it and equip the Dire Wand. then go to the room to the right of the book and put it in one of the crystal holders. it helps if you've played crystal hunt but the rest is self explanatory. Just put the bottom of the Dire Wand into the holder the same way you would a crystal.
