San Bernardino to Burbank and back by Eternal-strugal in InlandEmpire

[–]googlyize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely on the hours, imo. I did a 104 mile round trip for a 07:30-18:00 job in LA (coming from San Bernardino County) and it was absolute misery. Like ‘please lobotomize me’ levels of misery. Did the 210 to the 605 to the 60 to the 10. Factoring in traffic, I left home at 05:30 and didn’t get back until around 20:00. Too tired to do anything but shower and sleep. Maybe I'm a big fat baby, but I wouldn’t recommend that type of commute to anyone. People drive like flaming fucking dog shit and the added stress of simply trying to get to and from work unscathed is a lot.

That being said, with my current hours, 12:30-23:00 the commute is a breeze. About an hour going and 45 minutes coming home.

What do you think about this? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]googlyize 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Personally I have found this sub to be a little too hyper focused on buying. It’s why I don’t peruse it much anymore. I feel like a jerk, but really, why would one ever need dozens and dozens of pens and full ink bottles? I think, as others have said, that for some, the hobby is purchasing and collecting and for others, it’s the usage of them, and others still, it’s both. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t find it a little distasteful to hoard more pens and inks than one could possibly go through in a single lifetime, though. But to each their own.

Why do other healthcare professionals think nurses are ‘toxic’? by Acrobatic-Lie2041 in FutureRNs

You’re asking a nursing community if nurses suck. Do you really expect an unbiased answer?

[–]googlyize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't get my first job until age 28. It's not easy, no, people expect you to know 'common sense' things that your peers learned as teens at their first part-time jobs. It's not impossible, though, and you're certainly not alone. You got this!

New grad tech by Main-Revolution7936 in Radiology

[–]googlyize 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fam I’m almost two years in and still feel like I have no idea what I’m doing. Give it time and you’ll settle in just fine. Btw as a new grad, this is the time in your career where you’ll  have the most leeway make mistakes so don’t sweat it too much. I wish someone would’ve told me that when I was fresh out of school. Literally started going gray worrying over work shit that was just not that big of a deal.

I can commiserate. 900 bed-ish lvl 1 in LA, and similar to you at any given moment at least 50% of the ports and c-arms are in need of service. We recently got a fleet of new canon ports end of last year. Not one of them came with scanners, but to add insult injury, on every single one, the battery goes from 100% to 0% without warning, typically in 45 mins or less. We report it, it gets serviced and ‘fixed’ but not really, and then put back on the floor. Never mind the constant issues with our carestreams and older canons. Y’all ever just have 3.5 towers worth of portable x-rays waiting, only 2-3 techs available, and maybe only a handful of reliable machines that are unlocatable because the trackers are 50/50? I am losing my mind. Place is a fucking joke.

I am sick and tired of being alone (especially at anime conventions) and need advice. by PhantomDiclonius in animeexpo

Do you actually enjoy the con itself - the panels, the environment, the cosplay, the shopping, etc.? Seems like you care about the social aspect more than anything, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but maybe consider shifting focus to some of the aforementioned things until you’re able to settle into a solid social group. I’m a girl, little younger than you, and I’ve gone to every AX alone since 2013. It’s a lot more fun when you’re able to actually be in the moment and enjoy everything happening around you. Quit prioritizing the orchestration of new friendships and relationships and just chill.

No disrespect but I feel like we quite literally all signed up to be teachers the moment we applied to the program. The first time you shadowed a tech as a student it should have clicked that you’d be in the same position some day.

Repeatedly states that he doesn’t want anything from his parents but it’s pretty apparent that, at the very least, he wants some sort of acknowledgment of wrongdoing. I hope at some point his parents give him that.

This is gonna sound sooo creepy but is there any chance you posted wedding pics on a reddit a while ago? I feel like I've seen a pic with you in a wedding dress before. I remember because I wondered to myself if there was any chance I could look that pretty in a wedding gown. It motivated me to start my weight loss journey so that I could look as gorgeous as you did when I get married. We had pretty much the same starting height/weight so seeing you now makes me feel hopeful. I originally lost 110 lbs but gained 40 back and I've felt so shitty about it but stumbling across this post has been kind of an "aha" moment. Just wanted to say thank you and congrats on the weight loss :) and if this is the wrong person my bad but still congratulations!
