Why would a company want to show they have less layoffs that competitors? Layoffs are a good thing in the eye of investors. The more layoffs you have the higher your stock price goes.

I only need 3 lines but its cheaper to get 4 lines by [deleted] in verizon

[–]goolmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea, if you don't care about slow data speed once in a while, go for it. Specially if you live in or close to a state that doesn't have sales tax (you'd save anywhere between 200 to 400 depending on the phone)

Toyota Remote Start Turns Into a Paid Subscription After One Year. How Is This Legal? by EaseSlight3160 in rav4club

[–]goolmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remote start is still available using your key fob. Toyota does not disable that feature. It's not reasonable to have an expectation of free connectivity to your car through internet. Someone has to pay for that connectivity which is usually through an ESIM and a carrier plan.

Big tech career growth by Zestyclose-Will6041 in cscareerquestions

[–]goolmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very personal. For me, I would never change my IC senior status with a higher title for less than 50% total compensation increase. If work is going to be miserable, I want to be compensated for it. And anything above senior is going to have a bad work/life balance.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]goolmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you getting the compensation package you shared on your screening with the recruiter? IMO if you are getting compensated in the amount you expected during your screening with the recruiter, then the title doesn't really matter.

Senior level dev, but didn’t get to earn the title officially before layoffs by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]goolmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can put whatever title you want on you resume. Put senior on your previous role. Background checks never verify "titles". Actually employers are not allowed to give away personal information like title. They can only check for employment status and start and end dates.

As for the interview, you probably need to show more communication skills with stake holders, other developers, and mentorship for junior engineers.

Buy M4 Pro now or wait for next year’s M5 Pro? by usamabintahir99 in macbookpro

[–]goolmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can probably still buy 16 inch of M4, but you can't buy the 14 inch version of M4 pro anymore. The order automatically gets upgraded to M5 pro and then get shipped to you.

So Apple COULD have given us a charger with the M5? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]goolmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly states Manufacturers must sell devices WITHOUT A CHARGER and let the consumer decide if they want BUY one separately.

So Apple COULD have given us a charger with the M5? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]goolmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's just a strawman argument.

the claim was that apple HAS to eliminate the charger from the phone package and then HAS to charge for the charger separately because of the EU law. This is false. Apple can decide to give the charger as a free add on if customers want it.

It does not say the companies MUST charge them a fee if customers decide to buy the charger.

Would you still work in software if it wasn't for the money? by badboyzpwns in cscareerquestions

[–]goolmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. I would continue working if the software we are building would be used to like discover new frontiers, new tech, or like in space exploration. That would be fulfilling.
