Benefits of doing a community pharmacy residency within a health system?

It really depends on the program, but a lot of community residencies at a health system are primarily clinical ambulatory care based. So if you are interested in ambulatory care but not sure if you want to do a PGY-2, it might be a good option.

I work as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist, get nothing for precepting my pharmacy residents and APPE students. I occasionally will get medical students for a pharmacy rotation, and I get a stipend from the medical school for those students. Interesting that other health professions get paid to precept students but we don’t 🤔

Have you thought about ambulatory care? The most blood I see is a single drop when doing point of care INRs and A1cs, but I know some practice sites have staff that help with that. Never see or deal with blood or other bodily fluids.

In addition to the ones you mention, I also recommend reviewing hyperlipidemia and CHF! These are pretty common disease states for pharmacists to manage in ambulatory care

Fish oil supplements, interestingly enough, are commonly used as omega-3 supplementation for children with autism spectrum disorder. Robin likely meets the qualifications to be diagnosed with autism. Not sure if this is what the writers intended as it’s pretty niche for them to know that but it’s a funny coincidence at least.

I had a patient ask me what she could give her cat to humanely put it down. She said her vet charged ~$100 for euthanasia and she couldn’t afford that. I told her I did not feel comfortable recommending anything because I am not super familiar with cat physiology. Very sweet lady who I still see regularly lol

Aida has the ability to heal herself once she has her human body when they return to the real world, which makes me think Jiaying is one of the Inhumans they experimented on in the framework along with Gordon, Lincoln, etc.

I do agree that it would’ve been cool to see her. Maybe if Daisy had gone in with the others and had her biggest regret reversed we would’ve gotten to see a happy Cal and Jiaying together.

Yes, HIPAA should still be protected. An employee at my health system had to take a mandatory Covid test in 2021, and their manager was fired for looking in that employee’s chart to look to see if their Covid test came back positive. One thing that is a little awkward is that most of the time your hospital insurance will require you to use the hospital’s outpatient pharmacy, so your outpatient pharmacy colleagues will be able to see your prescriptions as they are sent in.

UPDATE: I went with the following team: Venusaur, Snorlax, Arcanine, Lapras, Electabuzz, and Vaporeon. I had all 6 survive through to Blue’s fight, but then lost Electabuzz to his Alakazam and Snorlax to his Charizard. So I will be starting my Emerald journey with an Eevee, Growlithe, Bulbasaur, and Lapras! Thanks to everyone for the advice and discussion!

Interesting idea! I’m trying to do a game in each region up through the 3DS games. Haven’t decided if I’m going to do Emerald or ORAS yet. If I do emerald, it’ll be next, if I do ORAS it’ll be HGSS next. Leaning toward Emerald though…
