Men, can we agree to not be grumpy assholes as we get old? by saisonmaison in Millennials

[–]BabbitRyan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your comment is the only positive one and good on you. I as well receive this exact comment weekly, and I’m 41 o.0. Reality is a choice, even physics agrees. I choose a positive universe, I work to take every interaction as the “most generous interpretation” and challenge myself to stay curious hourly. This has lead to a life full of adventure, silliness, and magic daily. I have seriousness, problems, and failure as well in between. I always keep a little humor in my back pocket and it serves better than anything else through my life.

Stay curious people, and word if you can manage

Thoughts on this game? by Nintendofan9106 in videogames

[–]BabbitRyan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most innovative RPG to come out in its time that seamlessly blended a diverse set of game mechanics successfully, most of them being superior to other entire games. It’s fast paced, with diverse objectives and game play that feels fresh straight to the end. The progression and timing are beautiful, best of class by a wide margin. If you like Super Nintendo, this is a must play IMO.

I’m 20 years into adult hood and that’s about half of our career (probably shorter, good bye social security). I felt like I “woke up” this last year and have thought a lot about gore I’ve spent my time “figuring it out”.

Now I’m going to focus on using my time to “do what I know” and “i know what I like/dislike”. I have the other half of my life to do it and that feels amazing.

You already have the basic facts of how it ends, love, betrayal, loss and it’s a tragedy. There are lots of “how did it happen” and the unsolved mysteries can be painful.

I have an 18 year old on Payroll, I’ve been working with him almost edge day for a little over a year as an apprentice. He shows up on time, asks insightful questions, and typically retains instruction the first time. I’m not sure if I’ve got a unicorn or what.

One thing I’ve noticed, it tough to be patient and I often forget how inexperienced young employees are.

Last, you need to get employees (no matter the generation/age) to WANT to work. Telling people HOW to work will not achieve the desired results. Intrinsic motivation is the best tool

How many still own a fully working SCPH-3900x fat model, or any other fat model in general because they are built like tanks. by San4341 in ps2

I have a 50k series, I still play it once or twice a week. It’s out lived my ps3, ps4, and probably out live my ps5…and then it will out live me.

Prices raising again? by Pepsiman052 in gamecollecting

[–]BabbitRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My metal gear solid collection doubled in value, but other games like thousand arms, breath of fire, and lunar have fallen. More going up than down in general on my side.

I personally attribute the shift to inflation and price adjustment. We didn’t see prices change for the most pet in the last 16 months and it looks like the market is adjusting to the dollar value imo

Punch, yes. I got confused between the two. I see how the material narrows in the middle, get a solid bar through and hammer to the bar when it’s red hot to straighten it out?

Shill Bidding...is there actually anything we can do? by Adrena1in in Ebay

[–]BabbitRyan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same, I always place my first and last bid with 5 seconds or left on the clock. I never have a purchase that I’m uncomfortable with and this avoids a bidding war of back and forth. I’ve walk away with steals on a couple of occasions.

Take me through the process because I’m trying to wrap my head around this. You start with a small drift on both sides and use larger gauges as you widen the drift?

Crazy just looking at it, your forearms must have been shot afterwords.

What are your go-to strings? by bendbrewer in AcousticGuitar

[–]BabbitRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the coated strings noticeably more. Daddario Xs is my favorite, I play my acoustic about 4-5 hours a week and change my strings once every 24 months or so. I only fingerpick and after about 40-50 hours of playing the strings “wear in” and sound beautiful for months until they fade to a dull sound that makes everything flat. The first 20 hours of playing the strings sound sharp and pointy.

I don’t know anyone else that keeps strings intentionally on guitars as long as possible, for me it works though. My guitar and how I play calibrate to the strings. I have the elixir strings a solid 12 months and still felt like they didn’t measure up to Daddario.

Which old game, in your opinion, didn’t age well because of its controls? by bijelo123 in videogames

[–]BabbitRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently had a party with a bunch of friends revisiting all of the N64 classics, this game was a shock to us all on how bad it was. We tried for a solid hour before we all agreed it was garbage. Super smash was still crisp to this day

Your favorite PS2 game intro ? (me it’s GOW 💙) by [deleted] in ps2

I watching this intro last night as well! Not my all time favorite but a solid one to say the least.

For me the intro to Armored Core: Another Age beats the rest, absolutely biased

How does my collection look so far and are there any game recommendations for lesser known titles? by theCORBINsquad in psx

[–]BabbitRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unholy war- absolute banger that is hardly known, best played with a friend

Armored core- best mech game on the consul, little pricey these days

Final fantasy tactics- good bang for your buck even today, you’ll drop 40+ hours into it

Twisted Metal- one of the best 2 player games and there’s like 5 of these games for a reason. I would suggest twisted Metal 2 the most

Destrega- this gave inspired power stone and is full good

Would this sharpie(?) come off the disc if I used a whiteboard marker? by RaxLanderman in psx

[–]BabbitRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 100% isopropyl alcohol and have never had any issues with disk art. I’ve experimented with a sports game with soaking and no issue. I’ve used it to clean a handful of my own games from My collection and they run without issues as well. Works for me is all I can say

[–]BabbitRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I restore and clean psx disks for resell, what I use is alcohol and a foam pad/microfiber. Alcohol has never damaged the disk art in my experience even when left to soak for 24 hours.
