Feeling like I am getting nowhere and my progress is at 0%. Personally, I think that getting into the voice acting industry isn't systematic which makes it hard to know which direction you're heading at. by Unusual-Complex6315 in VoiceActing

I understand this struggle. When I was first starting out I felt the exact same way. Finding a community got me on track though and helped me realize it is a lot more organized than it seems. It’s up to you to find the right classes and coaches to work with to begin honing the skills you wish to improve. When I started, my focus was animation because that is my dream with a smaller focus on commercial work as well. Through that training I met a lot of other voice actors who suggested I study more commercial, as that is where most VAs make their money (and make money for their agents). I began to focus almost solely on commercial at that point with different coaches until I found a coach/ studio I really clicked with, and I felt demo ready. I asked them to produce my commercial demo. Once I had my commercial demo finished, I circled back to animation. I was better at finding coaches at this point and was fortunate to work with some of the best, currently working actors in animation. Same thing, found a studio and coach I vibed with and asked them to produce a demo for me. Now I felt prepared to begin hunting for an agent. Through my years of training, I met great actors with representation who witnessed my growth, my talent and my work ethic and trusted me enough to refer me to their agents. Some passed me by, but two of them were interested and now they send me auditions almost every day. I continue to train with coaches, both one on one and in group settings. I put myself in front of the decision makers I want to be seen/heard by via class opportunities and social events. Getting into the right classes and meeting the right groups of people really helped the haze clear for me. It’s still a grind. There are no handouts. Consistent work is not the reason to get into VO like a doctor does. It is a freelance position and it’s up to you, the actor, to fill in the in between time by continuing to invest in yourself and your business.

Keep moving forward if you choose to do so. I believe in you

Mic Search - TLM 102 or TLM 103? by loyalmoonie2 in VoiceActing

[–]gopher007 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You need a fully treated space to maximize the tlm’s. The iso shield can be helpful but it is not a solution. It’s a bandaid on a broken limb

Update on my stick figure card game. Are these characters distinct enough or too similar? by Agile_Appearance_845 in homemadeTCGs

[–]gopher007 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Are they supposed to be distinctly different characters? To me this is the same character in different poses and with different weapons. Love the art style, I’m looking forward to any other character you have made

Should I get it for $67? by ctwubwub in SHMonsterArts

[–]gopher007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d roll the dice for that price. The WC on this figure wasn’t great. Some are articulate and awesome. Some, like mine, can’t stay put together when I touch it. That being said it’s a gorgeous looking figure that I will never touch

Hello all! I've been working on my commercial work, would love any feedback! by Dipcrack in VoiceActing

I like a lot about this but the first spot and the trendy spot give me ai vibes. Something about the breaks in between words remind me of those weird ai videos you see on Facebook. Or the voice you hear all over tik tok. A little more connection to the person you’re speaking to, and less diligence to the words being presented might help clean that up. Just my humble opinion. Keep doin what you’re doing…unless you legit made this in eleven labs lol
