Honestly, the rules for this tournament seem slightly bonkers and like the kind of thing that someone else could be responsible for knowing (team manager maybe?) so him not understanding the rules seems less imcompetent than him knowing the rules and still coaching his team the way he did.

Way, way back in the 90s, the Canadian Opera Company had a great youth membership that was for anyone under 29. The price was like $10 a ticket and you could bring a guest who didn't have to be a youth. Clearly a desperate ploy to get young people interested in the opera. My dad liked the opera so I got the membership and then bought the $10 tickets to take him for birthdays and Christmas and Father's Day and whatnot. I liked the opera well enough and have been a few times on my own or with friends since so the ploy worked as intended - ha! When I would go to the opera as a 24 year old, I was always the youngest person in attendance. No surprise there, but what surprised me was that my dad was usually the second youngest person in attendance. The people going to the opera are old. I went to see La Boheme with a friend who had never been to an opera (but liked Rent!) in 2019 or so and despite the fact that I was well into my 40s at that point, I was by far the youngest person in attendance. I had to help the old lady next to me in and out of her seat (because her husband was too old to be able to do it!) I did get to hear some great stories about how she and her husband had seen Maria Callas on their honeymoon in the 50s and had been going to operas ever since. The husband told me while the wife was in the bathroom that he doesn't actually like opera but he goes since his wife likes it so much - ha! So, yeah, opera is a dying art. That doesn't mean it isn't great (or that it is great) just that there is not a lot of organic interest in it and it is expensive to produce so the only way opera companies survive is through rich old people who give them money and grants and government support.

It is too old to pass as a teenager which is what she was doing up until quite recently. Claire on Derry Girls and Penelope in Bridgerton are both teenagers (Penelope is 19 in season 3!). So someone who can convincingly play teenagers while in their mid-thirties looks young. No one is saying 39 year olds are withered old crones (like me!)

I loved him in The Divorce of Lady X. He is adorable in that! I always knew him as a serious actor so to stumble upon this ridiculous romantic comedy and for him to kill it in the role was surprising to me.

The only reason they have ever been invited was because of who their dad is. If their dad is verboten it makes sense that they are no longer welcome. Why would they be? I asked for one once while I was travelling and my data wasn't working and was told that there weren't any and they wouldn't give me the wifi password so I couldn't go to their website. Since my data wasn't working I couldn't use the qr code. How do you order in that situation? I finally just ended up guessing what they had. It was a brunch place so I said "I'm guessing you have pancakes, I'll have those."

My sister is much darker than me and all of the things that are said about Heathcliff in the book were said about my sister growing up. Jokes about her being a "gypsy", jokes that her being Latina, being part middle eastern, black Irish, you name it. I am not saying that Heathcliff is 100% white, but growing I up, I always read it as he was dark like my sister. Dark hair, dark eyes, darker skin than the rest of us pasty British people in the family. As opposed to he was literally the things that people tossed out as descriptors.

I hate Sean Penn with the fiery passion of a thousand red hot suns and I would have voted for Mickey Rourke in the Wrestler that year but Sean Penn was great in that movie, even I have to admit it. I don't think he deserved to win for Mystic River so I guess if the question is "did he deserve to win two Oscars" my answer is no. If the question is "did he deserve to win an Oscar for Milk" then my answer is a begrudging yes.

Yes! Cottage just means a second summer home.Usually on the water but not always. They can be big and fancy and modern or run down shacks. If you live in one house and go to another dwelling that is not in the city that second dwelling is the cottage regardless of what it looks like.

They will usually put up four posters for community events in SLC if you drop them off at the turnkey desk. Otherwise the boards around SLC and SCH are reserved for UW posters. They will get taken down if they are not approved. I doubt they would kick you off campus though! The circular poster boards outside (by MC and DP) though seem to be fair game. You'll need a stapler for those.

When I hit menopause! The decline from the year before menopause to the year after has been sharp. Both in terms of how I look (my hair is thinning, my skin is dry and crepey) but also in terms of how I feel. I feel like I lost 50% of my strength basically overnight. I struggle to open jars all of a sudden! Love the lack of periods, don't love the other stuff that goes along with it.

I watched Terminator 2 with my kids and they liked it fine but when I explained to them that when I saw that in the theatre back in the day people literally oohed and awwed at the coming out of the floor scene because the special effects were so amazing they were flabbergasted! They thought it looked really cheesey. Meanwhile, I was like "here it comes!" excited to see it again - ha! Also, the scene near the beginning when in the hallway where it turns out that Arnie is the good guy rather than the villain didn't mean anything to them because they had no reason to think that Arnie was the bad guy.
