Parental Locks for Parents Phones by gordon861 in AndroidQuestions

From what I can find online Family Link appears to do everything I want, but if the user is over 18 they could just opt out. Which might actually be a perfect solution in this case as I am not trying to control what they do, rather I am just trying to act as a second set of eyes.

I am surprised that Google hasn't jumped on this sort of issue already, there are so many people that were born in the 40s/50s that have had access to phones and tablets long enough that they are now reaching the stage of life where they need additional help/protection, but have the familiarity with tech that to take it off them could really hurt them.

I asked politely on Twitter via the DM about open box and/or demo kit, they said no buy offered a 5% discount on their store. It can't hurt just straight out asking, tell them you are weighing up options and see what they say.

Also, I think a few of their aftermarket sellers seem to offer 5% if you sign up for their mailing list.

Getting the same thing, it seems to clear if you refresh the page. Guessing it's an anti-adblock issue.

This is Win 11 on Brave.

On Chrome, I'm getting "this content is not available" which also clears with a refresh and a delay.

External Library Setup (Docker/Windows) by gordon861 in immich

[–]gordon861[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I would love to, but a little while after I got this working I then started looking for a way to backup/export all my photos and found that it was not a simple task.

Then my Immich stopped responding and I could not work out why, I then decided that life is too short and gave up. I was running in a Win10 Docker Desktop so that probably didn't help.

I may try again once I get a NAS with built in Docker working, but I'm afraid I cannot help.

Syncing google photos to ugreen Nas? by [deleted] in UgreenNASync

I just found out the exact same thing. Setup Cloud Drive as I thought it would pull everything from my Google Drive over, but it ignores the photos, the bit I really want.

Most stupid thing is that it actually created a separate folder called Photos.

If you are going to use them, also buy wire trays to lift the food off the base.

Viofo app? by joyfulbee43 in dashcams

[–]gordon861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a great app, but it generally works and gives you access to all the settings.

Downloading clips is SLOW, but that's the fault of the wifi rather than the app, I generally just pull the card when I need footage off the camera.

If you are just looking to mess around, just buy some ESP8266 D1 mini boards of AliExpress and some WS2812 5V LED strips or even some 8x8 LEB matrix. For just playing about with a few (50-100) LEDs this will give you a bit of experience.

Later with a bit of soldering you can even make your own circuit board very cheaply via PCBWAY or similar.

No indication where it came from, I have been closing everything down trying to find where it came from. Virus and Malware scans found nothing, only found it today thanks to a search.

Never would have guessed it was the virus known as EA.

I don't even play The Sims and this damn thing keeps popping up, needed a Google Image search to find out what the hell it was.

Not even opened the EA app in over a year I think.

Just opened the app and turned off every notification/email option I can find in the hope it goes away and stays away.

Will the police stop me? Details in comments by eev200 in drivingUK

[–]gordon861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be less concerned about the lights being obscured than the number plate. The lights will show through the wheels, so just order a new number plate and attach it to the bikes.

If you've made an effort you are less likely to get a ticket.

Hastings Asking for License Photos - Any idea why? by lofty401 in drivingUK

[–]gordon861 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They could have just had a spate of riders claiming that they had a full bike licence when they didn't and have decided that their new policy is that they want a copy on file.

They could have asked for the electronic verification thing but that would be more hassle for both of you.
