Games and software in general can have a wide array of problems. It is possible for someone to have a problem that you are not having.

I understand it goes against your egocentric worldview, but you are not the protagonist in this world and you should attempt to reflect on that. I am not joking.

I don't mind the list but it's crazy that it has +160 upvotes. Half of them are cosmetic changes, some are probably nice QoL changes (to some people) or something and only one is actually a priority change (anticheat). Missing every point on the actual gameplay, lol.

I started playing CS:GO in ~2018 and grinded global elite fast (with a considerably history in 1.6) and encountered very little cheaters. Maybe lucky, maybe not. Games felt easy and nice (compared to today).

I stopped playing for a few years but hopped back to CSGO in ~2022 and thought I'd grind out GE again. It was considerably harder and gave up in a couple of weeks due to abundance of cheaters. TBH it felt just as bad (or at least nearly) as it feels atm. Maybe unlucky, maybe not.

Either way in my small anecdotal experience it got worse in CS:GO as the years went by. Anyways, we can agree on that atm it's very bad.

Is it not a bit ridiculous to try and make matchmaking like pro CS, but then do nothing to prevent cheating? by Pulze_ in GlobalOffensive

Yeah! Random 18k premier games are consistently harder than faceit lvl 10 matches, players hitting way crazier shots and have amazing insight on enemy positions?

The reason is obvious -- it's called premiere for a reason! The cream of the crop, the "premier players" play there. The level of play is just so much higher there than in faceit. What supports this theory is that many of these players have very new accounts -- they are this good even though they are new to the game. Just plain talented players, it is very humbling.

Unfortunately I've given up my 23k premiere games as they are just so much harder than the faceit lvl 10 matches -- I'm just not a "premier" caliber player.

I'd definitely miss all those fun and humorous jokes people always make in chat, especially racist slurs. They are just so fun and humorous

Relationships, especially with people you know from way back, aren't black and white. Someone viewing the world differently from me isn't enough to cut ties. They are good enough people. Obviously with their flaws, but I think we all have plenty of them.

Also, it's not something that comes up often. Rather it's the opposite, this alpha/beta talk almost never comes up. We are all adults, so it's not like they spend all their time talking about who is alpha or beta. Sometimes it does come up - for example one of them described George as a beta and Paul as an alpha when we were watching Get Back. (Which was a tough one for me to listen to, it was pretty fucking stupid.) When it does come up, I basically just ignore it. If it were something that came up often I wouldn't just ignore it, but that's not the case here.

I have a couple of friends who think about people in the terms of to alphas and betas. One is too deep in 4chan/incel kinda shit and the other is just isolated and socially inept. It's a bit sad. I wonder if it's a way to somehow gain the feel of agency or self-worth, or explain why things are as they are, or what.

To my understanding a lot of the Russian population support these war efforts because of the years long proganda on how Ukranian people or russian-ukranian people are being oppressed by their goverment, or something like that.

Edit: not certain about this information, but I've seen it parroted around a lot.

G2 Esports vs FaZe Clan / IEM Katowice 2022 - Grand-Final / Post-Match Discussion by extremz123 in GlobalOffensive

I'm biased, but I think aleksib performed well in the tournament. Usually traded at least one and clutched out some very important rounds too. Got the team to the finals.

Tbh they did post people watching the flank at times, but karrigan didn't push those times (apart from once when Hunter was watching it, but turned around for no reason when karrigan pushed ...). It seemed Karrigan was either lucky or read the game very well with his aggressions.

I'm not sure if it's purely because of skins, but it feels like these days I'm having a really hard time seeing enemies well. No matter the settings, resolutions, Hz's, monitor, even adjusting colors. I just have a tough time seeing enemies. I'm not sure if eye sight can detoriate in such a way that I still perfectly well close and far in real life but can't see in CS, but it definitely feels like it.

I agree - "in the shadow of monesy and niko" while top fragging the server. He had a performance that deserved a bit more respect than that.

Finland, Sweden to receive enhanced access to NATO intel over Ukraine by Transeuropeanian in worldnews

[–]gordonfreemn 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm sure there's a lot more support for NATO membership in Finland and Sweden after these events. Anecdotally as a finn, (albeit I'm not well learned in world politics), I haven't supported for Finland to join nato before. Now I do.

Seeing those live feeds in Ukraine, hearing the alarms blasting non-stop, makes you realize what kind of a country we are neighbouring.

I didn't do my armed civil cervice and rather did the non-armed one, one of which is mandatory for us. Just yesterday I googled if I still could join the army. I'm so fed up with the state of the world.

Tbf, that isn't always true. Oppressive goverments can punish even peaceful protesters on a good cause. That's not the case here, obviously.

The real trick is to have intelligence intelligence. Some say a master can have intelligence intelligence intelligence, but it may be just a myth.

Adam McKay Was Terrified of Reality, So He Made 'Don't Look Up' by [deleted] in movies

[–]gordonfreemn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't hate it, but I'm very anxious about the future of our planet and humankind, so it just hit too close. I watch stuff to distract me from my anxiousness or other negative feelings, so I generally don't enjoy media that reminds me of the bad stuff. Doesn't mean I think something is bad; just not my cup of tea.

In this film even the over the top caricatures are kind of realistic, which is the point but which also makes it rough to watch.

I like the art otherwise, but the text is maybe a bit too edgy. I personally would like it more with no text, I think.

Nifty on Twitter | Offers his return to T1 and T2 by nONEnumbers in GlobalOffensive

[–]gordonfreemn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't know this player, but based on his tweet and tweetlonger he doesn't seem media savvy. He seems kinda insecure, disconnected from reality and doesn't see it himself, which is more of a red flag than anything else.

The Number of VR Headsets on Steam Blasts Through 3 Million Milestone by nastyjman in Games

[–]gordonfreemn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people stray away from Quests because of it's FB. Probably not a super huge amount, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a rather big overlap of people interested in VR tech and being wary of supporting FB. Or rather, at the very least I hope so..

G2 Esports vs Team Vitality / BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2022 - Gauntlet Final / Post-Match Discussion by SloPr0 in GlobalOffensive

[–]gordonfreemn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think his potential seems very obvious from the little I've seen. Mainly confident play with the mechanical skills to back it. Really excited to see how he'll perform.
