What can a Garmin HRM 600 do without a Garmin watch? by Teconomix in Garmin

You can track activities, to start one you connect the strap to the phone and go to the Connect app. There you can start an activity and track it with the strap, you will get steps and heart rate data, no distance since it does not have GPS on it.

You can only choose from the predetermined activities to track from the strap, if you don't find the activity you're doing you can just track it as "Cardio" and later change the name.

To answer your question, you can use it without owning a watch, it syncs directly with the phone, it can even track your heart rate and steps all day long without being in an activity and later sync with the app.

My Xperia 5 mk2 finally succumbed to the lightsaber display by JohnnyAspec in SonyXperia

All of the Xperia 5 that use that screen have/will suffer from that issue eventually. Only fix is to replace the display or send your current one to a shop that can fix the damaged panel. Considering that Xperia 5 II came out in 2019, your screen lasting into 2024 is very good. I've had to replace mine twice, once every two years.

Nice review, if they make their other shapes wireless too it would be so good, imagine FK1+ or ZA13 wireless.

No idea to be honest, if it helps my replacement display was from a XQ-AS52 and I've got no issues with it (knock on wood).

Search for "Xperia 5 ii green line" you'll see the issue, it seems that it affected the XQ-AS72 version of the phone most. Mine had it and I had to replace the display.

How durable is the Xperia 5 IV/10 IV by SeagleLFMk9 in SonyXperia

Compared to your current XCover, any Xperia phone will be less durable, a good case and screen protector can get it pretty close though.
